As soon as Taehyung looked at Jungkook's face, he felt so bad for the male.
"Stand up," he demanded whilst pulling him up. He dragged his jumper up to see his belly and torso. It was full of bruises and scars. His eyes drifted lower, and a horrible thought hit him. "Uhm..." He could barely bring himself to say it or even think of it. "Is - is there more?" he asked carefully.
Jungkook nodded but stood completely still. His face was frozen as if he was having a horrible flashback. "My foster father," he began.
Taehyung waited anxiously.
"He forces me to, uhm..." - Jungkook had a hard time to speak up - "he often takes off my clothes, and...uh, use my body to satisfy himself."
That fucking bastard. Taehyung felt a huge urge to find him and beat him up to death. "And Mrs Yoo is okay with that?" he growled unexpectedly.
Jungkook looked up at Taehyung. "I don't think she - she doesn't know about that. Only the beating," he mumbled.
"Well, it doesn't make it any better!" he yelled furiously. The elder saw how scared Jungkook looked at him.
Poor boy, he must be scared of all people who were angry. It's the only thing he sees anyway.
Immediately Taehyung wrapped his arms around Jungkook's neck in a loveable embrace. "I'm sorry for yelling. I'm not angry with you at all. I'm angry with them," Taehyung carefully stated to not frighten the boy any more.
They went silent for a moment; Taehyung had to process the new information that just had been released.
Jungkook's foster parents were abusing him. They threaten him if he'd tell anyone because they want to send him to the mental hospital to get rid of him. There was still something missing...
"Can I ask you something?" Taehyung carefully spoke up again. Jungkook nodded slowly whilst avoiding his gaze. "If they want to get rid of you, why did they adopt you in the first place? And haven't you tried running away from them?"
Jungkook thought for a second. "I've never had a chance to run away. They kept me locked up in my room and kept a close watch on me. Tonight was the first time I had a chance of running away without them noticing," he exclaimed.
He continued with Taehyung's other question.
"Apparently, they did want a son though, but when I arrived from the foster place, they hated me as soon as they saw me and tried sending me back, but unfortunately they had already signed the papers, saying they didn't have to see me before accepting a son," he carefully explained.
Taehyung frowned whilst carefully watching the younger. "Why?" he asked, "were you rebellious as a teen or something?"
"No," he whispered, already letting more tears stream down.
"Then why?"
"My parents," he started.
No...
"You know they were murdered, right?"
God, please no.
"It was..."
"Them?" Taehyung finished - he wasn't really planning on saying that out loud, but he automatically did and Jungkook nodded to confirm his theory.
Horror was hitting Taehyung so hard it made him stand up, unable to stand still as he wandered back and forth by the sofa with Jungkook watching him closely.
"No!" he suddenly screamed, causing Jungkook to flinch at his sudden outburst. "It can't be!" he said whilst sitting down again. "Jungkook," he started, grabbing his hand supportively. "It's a misunderstanding, right?" he asked desperately. "Please tell me it's a misunderstanding. It's serious business to claim someone to have murdered others. You have to be completely sure before pointing fingers, okay? Let me ask again" - Taehyung took a big and long breath before continuing - "did your foster parents kill your biological parents?"
Jungkook stared at him in the eyes for a few seconds without looking away and neither did he stutter. "Yes."
Taehyung knew he was telling the truth. He just knew it. He trusted Jungkook to never lie, especially about his parents. He wasn't a mean or rude boy - he was just frightened to death. And he sure as hell had a good reason to be so. He was literally living under the same roof as the people who were as fake as dolls, abusing him physically and mentally and they killed his parents.
"Is that why they want to get rid of you? Because you know the truth and they recognised you after they had adopted you?"
Jungkook nodded. He wanted Taehyung to hug him again. He hadn't felt safe since his parents' death, but whenever he was with Taehyung, he felt as if nothing could hurt him, only memories. Taehyung made him taste closer to happiness again and he didn't want to let that escape from again.
Taehyung was speechless. Absolutely speechless.
He had never come across something as serious as this. He literally had talked to murders. They acted all innocent as if they were worried parents of the damaged boy, but it was them who were seriously damaged and, not to mention, dangerous.
"I have to report this immediately," Taehyung said, mostly to himself, and was about to stand up, but Jungkook had grabbed his shirt to stop him from standing up.
"You - you can't tell anyone!" he begged desperately. "That's why I told you: because I trust you and you told me you'd listen!" he cried.
Taehyung let him in for a hug immediately. He couldn't let the boy see his frown - his hesitation.
Taehyung had to report this. There were murders and it was definitely a threat to Jungkook's life.
Jobwise, he had to tell his boss because Jungkook's life was in danger. Law-wise, he had to report the murders. Emotional-wise, he wanted to tell on them to save Jungkook. But Jungkook finally trusted him to not tell anyone. He just didn't understand how serious this was.
"I promise I'll protect you Jungkook," he said as he pulled their bodies apart to look the boy in the eyes. "I promise with all of my heart I'll protect you with my life." Jungkook cried again, but it wasn't like before. He was happy. He felt protected. He was relieved. He was touched.
Taehyung thought it over and over. How was he going to tell his boss about all this? Jungkook was an adult and could not be sent back to the foster home. He could live alone, but he had absolutely no money. He would probably get help from the bank, but that was not enough for him. He could live with me, but would he want that?
Taehyung had to talk this through with Jungkook, but the poor boy was still afraid of what his foster parents would do to him. Taehyung had to protect him no matter what.
"Stay here," Taehyung said to him seriously. They still sat on the sofa beside each other. When Jungkook didn't reply, Taehyung glanced to the side to look at him and he had unnoticeably fallen asleep. A soft smile appeared on the elder male as he saw how peaceful the boy looked in his sleep. It was a whole new expression on the raven-haired boy. He was so adorable.
