It's been a few months since Michael's reproposal to me. News spread like wildfire after the event and eventually, the fans knew about our relationship. There were some that ended up being a bit rude and hurt about it but eventually everything calmed down and Michael and I were given the relaxed life we had hoped for.
I myself had learned how to relax again around Michael. However, I could still feel the silent aura of fear that he would eventually find out about Darin and my's night together.
"Gavin, just make up your mind already," Barbara growled at me playfully as she waited for me to answer her relentless questions. Meg was playing with my hair while I had my head, face down in her lap. Meg and Barbara were constantly over at Michael and my's now shared apartment to plan out the wedding for Michael and I. Not that I was complaining.
"Iefh dofnt chare," I mumbled into Meg's lap, making her giggle.
"You do realize the wedding is next month. These things are crucial to the wedding!" She exclaimed. I finally lifted my head off of Meg's lap and looked at Barbara.
"I don't think how long Michael and I kiss during the ceremony is going to be that important," I told her, smirking. Barbara huffed and rolled her eyes, typing away at her laptop again.
I suddenly heard the door to the apartment open and I lifted my head up more, seeing Michael. I smiled and jumped up, running over to him and wrapping my arms around him.
"Hey, Gavvy," Michael purred, pressing his lips against mine.
"Aww... I wish I could have a relationship like yours... Or a relationship in general," Meg whispered. Michael and I broke our kiss to look at Meg in her pathetic state.
"Anyway, Barbara, Meg, you guys are gonna have to leave," Michael said, breaking the awkward silence.
"Good. They aren't any help anyway," I said, smirking in their direction when they gave me angry looks.
"I don't care what you say Gavin, these minor details could end up making a disaster during the wedding," Barbara said, half truthfully. She folded her laptop back up and turned to Meg.
"Come on, we can head to my apartment and drink until we can imagine a relationship like theirs," Barbara joked. Meg giggled and nodded, jumping up and following Barbara out the door.
"So, why did you want them to leave?" I asked him, pushing myself onto a counter in the kitchen. Michael smiled at me and grabbed a beer for himself and I.
"Well, I was thinking that, maybe, I'd take you out tonight," Michael said, approaching me. He rested his hands on my hips and gave me the usual sexy smirk he gave me when he had something planned.
"What do you have in mind?" I asked, pretending to be completely oblivious to Michael's suspiciousness.
"Oh, you know... Dinner. Maybe a walk later on," He told me.
I smirked, already knowing an idea of what he had planned. I placed my hands on his shoulders and pulled him closer to me so I was hugging him.
"I love you, Mi-cool," I whispered to him.
"I love you too, Gavvy," Michael told me back.
Suddenly, I felt a wet nose brush against my leg and I yelped slightly. I looked down, noticing Mavrick's head was pushed up against Michael's leg as he begged for his owners attention.
"Okay, Mavrick, I love you too," Michael smirked, letting him jump up so he looked like he was hugging Michael. I smiled and pet his head, admiring the relationship Michael had with his dog.
Eventually, the time came when we decided we should leave. Michael and I both put on button ups and fixed our hair a bit before leaving.
Michael led me inside the restaurant, holding my hand. I smiled at that and noticed a few people giving us proudish and happy looks.
Eventually, we were seated and Michael took my hand again from across the table. He ran his thumb gently along my hand and smiled, making me smile as well.
"Can you believe that we're getting married next month?" Michael whispered to me. I smiled and shook my head.
"No. It's so surreal. I'm pretty nervous," I told him. Michael nodded and squeezed my hand gently, making me squeeze his in return.
"I know. I am too," He told me.
Throughout the night, we chatted about things that were going on. I hadn't realized how busy the both of us were becoming and how we didn't get a lot of time to hang out like we used to. It was pretty nice to do something like this after so long.
After we ate and we were just sitting there, still talking about everything and anything that came to mind, I saw a familiar face.
I almost ducked underneath the table when it realized who it was.
Darin was sitting in a booth about twenty feet from Michael and I. He almost immediately looked up at me and I tried to look away before he could see me. However, luck was not on my side, of course.
He got up and started approaching us. I tensed slightly and gave Michael a smile, even though fear was racing through my body.
"Hey, you guys are from Achievement Hunter aren't you?" Darin asked. Michael and I turned to him and nodded.
"Cool. I watch you guys all the time. You're really entertaining. My names Darin," Darin introduced himself, shaking Michael's hand and then mine. He locked his eyes on me and gave me an evilish smirk.
Darin talked to Michael and I for a little while. I could tell Michael was getting annoyed by his presence. Eventually, Darin began saying some questionable things and I almost pleaded him to shut up so he didn't give away my secret.
"So, Gavin, I didn't think I'd be seeing you again. Especially not with him," Darin said, smirking again. I glared at him, seeing Michael's confusion out of the corner of my eye.
"I mean, you never returned any of my messages or calls. I figured you'd at least want to meet up one more time," Darin said.
"Gavin, what the hell is he talking about?" Michael asked me. I gulped and pushed away the urge to either burst into tears, or throw up.
"Oh, he didn't tell you? He and I had a wonderful and... Fairly sexual night together after he ran out on your proposal," Darin said, smirking.
Michael was silent for a moment before he turned to me. Just looking into his eyes, you could tell how much he was pleading for Darin to be lying.
"Is this true, Gavin?" He asked me. I looked over at him and again pushed back the urge to cry.
"I'm so sorry, Michael," I choked out.
Michael instantly stood up and gave me a deathly glare. He approached me and I began pleading for him to let me explain. Darin watched this in amusement and pleasure.
"Give me the ring," Michael growled.
"What?" I yelped. Michael rolled his eyes and grabbed my hand, ripping the ring off my finger before storming away.
I watched him walk away, feeling as if my heart had just been torn out and stomped on. Darin laughed in amusement at the event and I immediately stood up and punched him square in the jaw. He toppled out of his chair and held his jaw, glaring at him.
"Don't even think about getting back up or the next one will be twice as hard as that," I growled at him, my voice getting an octave deeper. Darin stared at me in a fearful type of way until I stormed away.
I immediately went outside, noticing the light drizzle of rain that began to fall. I looked up in misery and decided to walk to Geoff's. Besides, it was only a couple miles from here and I didn't want to see anyone for a little while.
I stepped into the rain, feeling it begin to plant itself onto my hair and clothes. Eventually, tears began to stream down my face as I looked down at my left hand, seeing the spot where my engagement ring sat only ten minutes before.
What have I done?
