Good Morning everyone. Hope you are enjoying Lolita's story so far. Thank you for your support in reading my book. I sincerely appreciate it and may God bless you. I hope you have learned a lot so far and I pray you will apply those lessons to your own lives. God is faithful. He never sleeps; He never slumbers.
Mrs. Johnson patiently waited up for her son to arrive home and fill her in. Her husband too was there paying his son a rare visit as it was the latter that usually visited them since his arrival in Botswana. As Ryan's car entered the big compound, Mrs. Johnson's heart leaped with joy. She walked towards the tall window pane by the door, slightly pulled the curtain to watch him.
"Seriously? Allow the young man to come in and rest first." She ignored him and he smiled knowingly; she was not going to listen. About a minute later, their eldest son entered the house and was welcomed by his mother's hug.
"How was the date? Did you propose as I told you to? Did she say "yes?" Ryan's happy and shiny eyes gave him away. Mr. Johnson could not remember the last time he saw him so excited about something except for the time he called a year ago to let them know of his intentions towards Prof. Badmus' daughter.
Ryan sat down next to his mother who was eagerly waiting for him to spill his gut.
"Lolita and I are officially courting. She is moving back to her parents now that things have been sorted out."
"Congratulations son. You found her and she accepted."
"Thanks Dad."
"So when is the wedding?" Mrs. Johnson asked in excitement.
"He said they will be courting from now on darling, they are not engaged yet."
Mrs. Johnson shot her husband a mean look. "It has been confirmed that you are God's plan for each other! What is keeping you guys from tying the knot? Ryan you are not growing any younger. You will be thirty-five next year!"
She definitely was frantic and if it were up to her, Lolita and Ryan would be married the next morning. Ryan took her hands in his and reassured her that everything was under control.
"Okay Ryan, so in your opinion when will you be tying the knot?" She glared at him with her piercing dark eyes demanding answers. So Ryan related to them what they agreed upon.
"You don't know when she will be back?" She held the side of her neck in shock tilting her head back and whispering, "Lord help me!"
"What are you saying?" Mr. Johnson asked getting confused at last.
"She doesn't want to stay...she is going back to Nigeria by month end and maybe by next year January she would have cleared her head and heart and will come back in as a Masters student then before she completes the program we would be married." His father shook his head with understanding.
"That could work."
"Thomas Keatlaretse Johnson!" Mrs. Johnson was not very happy. She wanted Lolita to marry her son by the end of the year so that by the next year she would be having Ryan's first child in her arms. "This is unacceptable! If you had approached her three years ago we will not be singing this dirge right now!"
"Mum please understand. If I had married her then my marriage would have been in trouble."
"Why do you say that?" His father asked.
"There was someone Lolita was waiting for...she loved him and her relationship with her father..." His voice trailed off as he busted into laughter but his mother was seriously not amused.
"The way they were so close, I even felt sorry for the rest of the family. They were best friends and almost inseparable. If she could have her way, her father would follow us for the honeymoon and move in with us upon our return."
