Happy Valentine everyone. Hope you all had a great time with your loved ones. I know that the epilogue should be next but I wrote this filler chapter so that the epilogue won't be crowded. Thanks once again for your support. God bless.
TWO YEARS LATER...
NOVEMBER, 2018.
Ryan had made sure that he got leave for the week his fiancé was coming back finally. Their wedding was approaching fast and the preparations were underway. He smiled as he drove towards the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport. He had persuaded her to stay in the UK and start her PhD program but she refused and opted for distance learning instead. She missed home and her family and most especially her beau. He told her parents to stay at home while he picks her up from the Airport. David was far away in Canada doing his Masters in Computer Science.
He parked his red Compressor and rushed off to the tall building looming before him. The time was 09:45 and she was due to arrive at 10:00 am. He sat down comfortably and took out his Samsung phone to chat with Kgosi on whatsapp to ask if things were running well at the restaurant where he booked for dinner.
"Chill man. Everything is set. She just needs to rest well from the long flight and she will be ready for dinner."
"Whatever KG. I am so nervous right now. She refused to let me visit her and claimed absence makes the heart grow fonder."
"(laughter emoji). We are in the same boat so you are not the only one with a broken heart."
"That's what brought us together in the first place. I still can't believe Desire was brave enough to make that decision. She just took off after finding that letter."
"The guilt nearly killed her."
A comfortable silence of about a minute ensued before Kgosi broke it,
"Do you think she is better now? Her parents haven't seen her since then you know."
"She is happy to be working for the United Nations as a volunteer. She is working with children daily...that is a good healing balm. She will bounce back in no time."
"My parents wants me to divorce her and move on. Mum was devastated when Desire told her what happened and how she used me."
"It will be over soon. She will come back."
"I hope so...it's almost time for our bride to arrive. She is worth the wait Ryan. See you later."
"Later KG."
Ryan got up and stood in front of the entrance of the arrival terminal. The automatic door opened and close, bringing out new people but no Lolita. What if she missed her flight in Johannesburg? That girl and her secrecy! If only she had called when she got there. Just then, he looked up and there she was. His voice abandoned him at that moment. He was awed by how much she hasn't changed over the two year period. She looked dazzling in white skinny jean and a short sleeve dress shirt. Her hair had grown and was styled into a left side parting reaching to her shoulder. She wore the white coloured earrings he sent last Christmas and right there on her neck should be the necklace with the engagement ring but she wore none.
Lolita saw that her fiancé was lost in love so she stood in front of him and gave him a gentle hug. She missed him so badly and it was only by God's grace that she didn't jump on the next available flight back to Botswana...oh yeah she needed a visa too. They broke apart and she looked into his eyes...was he not happy to see her?
"Earth to Dr. Johnson." She said tightly folding her arms across her chest.
He snapped out of his reverie and smiled brightly at her.
