"Seriously?" I asked Kai with my eyebrows raised but a smile on my lips.
He nodded, sipping his 'coffee'. "What's so bad about it, Ri?"
I shook my head. "Nothing, Malachai. It's just..." I trailed off, as I thought for the right word. "It's just you."
Kai laughed. "Please elaborate." He set down his cup.
I moved my hair away from my hair. "You know what I mean."
He shook his head. "No, Ri." He rested his head on his hand. "Enlighten me."
He's so annoying. I thought, rolling my eyes.
I placed down my own cup on the table. We were inside a small cafe, Grayson was fast asleep in his stroller beside me.
"Well Malachai." I started, resting my head on my hand like him. "It's just you..." I paused. "You don't seem the one to take a person out on a date."
"So I'm not romantic?" He asked. "Ri, it was my idea to come here."
Kai and I went to Paris, France. While Valerie and Stefan went to Hawaii, it was hard to say goodbye and they promised to keep looking no matter what.
"I suggested France a while back."
Kai rolled his eyes. "I'm asking you, my girlfriend, out on a date in the most romantic city and you're calling me unromantic."
"Forgive me if you never really showed me a romantic side." I glanced to see if other people were listening in. To be safe I leaned and said in a lower tone. "I still remember you killing and hiding my body in the prison world, not to mentioning cloaking yourself to watch me dress."
Kai chuckled. "Don't act like you didn't enjoy exploring all those times, besides I left you a map." I rolled my eyes. "And forgive me for being attracted to the sexy woman, who also happened to be the first one I'd seen for years."
"There are other ways to get a woman's attention."
He shrugged and winked. "My way is always fun though."
I laughed but it faded when I heard quiet sobs from Grayson. I looked down at him and ran my hand down his cheek. "What is wrong Gray?"
Grayson's face went red, from his tears and I pouted. His hands went to his face and I removed them. "No Grayson." He didn't listen to me and instead kept touching his face particularly his mouth.
I rose a brow and lifted him out and placed him on my lap. I moved his hands and looked at his mouth. He had small teeth growing and I assumed that was the source of his discomfort.
"His teeth?" Kai asked. I nodded.
Then it hit me. "Kai." I looked at him and he was already looking at me. "Who is going to watch Grayson, if we have a date?"
He cursed. "Surely there'll be someone."
"We're not leaving him with a stranger."
"And you won't have to." My eyebrows rose when I heard that familiar voice.
"Shouldn't you two be in Hawaii?" Kai wondered as Valerie and Stefan stood by our table.
"I thought about what you said Kai." Stefan said, sounding defeated. "And it did make sense-"
"What was that?" Kai beamed.
Stefan rolled his eyes. "I'm not repeating myself." He laughed. "But there isn't any point in chasing something that doesn't exist and I've lived long enough to know when enough is enough."
