"Damon." I beamed, pulling him into a big hug.
He hugged me back. "Riley, long time wno see."
"It has been a long few weeks."
"I like the hair." I thanked him. "Shorter was always better."
"Told you." I elbowed Kai's arm and he chuckled.
Damon rose a brow but shook his head. "So how was life on the road?" He asked while we walking into the living room.
He picked up a bourbon bottle and a glass. "Where are my manners?" He tutted and held a glass at us.
"I'll take one." Kai beamed, while Stefan and I declined.
He narrowed his eyes but nodded, pouring himself and Kai a glass. Kai accepted the glass with a smile, knocking his glass with Damon's. "To friends."
"Don't push your luck." He said with a straight face. Kai blew him a kiss before he sipped his drink, walking over and sitting next to me.
"Klaus has a daughter." Stefan told his brother. Damon's eyebrows rose. "It's why he let us stay with him, he had a soft spot for babies."
"Well who wouldn't want to keep Grayson safe." I cooed, planting a kiss on his forehead. "Look at how cute he is."
"Where's Elena and Bonnie?" Kai asked.
"Whitmore." Damon replied.
"Is there a reason you called us all back here."
"We've found out that you two, Stefan and Kai." He pointed at them. "Your lives are life are linked to Rayna's."
"What?" Kai and Stefan said, looking at each other than Damon.
I rose a brow but stayed quiet. Damon finished his drink. "When she dies, you two die." He shrugged and poured himself another drink. "I would say I'm surprised but, hey, that's just Mystic Falls for you."
"Is there any way to change this?" I asked.
Damon looked defeated and sighed. "I have no idea."
++++
"What are we meant to do now?" I asked Kai. He turned to look at me while he moisturised his face.
"Now that what?"
I shook my head, climbing underneath the blanket. "Kai your life is linked to Rayna's."
He huffed. "Don't remind me." He held his hands over his face for a moment then dropped them, racking his hands through his hair. "Life was so much easier in the prison world." Kai laughed. "Never thought I'd say that."
"Maybe we shouldn't have left it."
Kai gave me a look and chuckled. "I never said I missed it."
I nodded slowly to myself and he got himself into bed, Grayson was already in his crib. I laid down on my back as did he, the two of us stared up at the ceiling for a while in silence.
"You might not get your year." Kai's words sliced through the silence. I shut my eyes for a second because those exact words had been dominating my mind.
"Don't say that." I murmured, not looking at him though I felt his eyes on me.
"On the bright side, at least my scar closed up." He said with fake amusement in his tone.
I turned my head to look at him, reaching over and touching his chest. Rayna was with the armoury, which was good for us because she was out of the picture but now I was worried about her death because it would lead to Kai's.
