The next day, I had a meeting with my label discussing your benefits and expenses. Leanni decided to play sick and I, unprofessionally, had to bring her. So she sat next to me doing homework while I explained the air conditioner situation.
"I know how much we made last tour and it's enough to afford five more buses, we. Need. Air conditioner! We need air and I need a bigger bathroom," I ranted, "And if you're not gunna give all the buses air, at least put air in mine."
I watched as several people at the long cherry wood table massaged their chins in contemplation. I clasped my hands together with my eye brow raised in an impatient yet forceful manner.
"One bus is all we're willing to give you," one of the managers said.
"Mine then, don't worry about the other people," I replied.
"Deal," they all said. I shook hands with each person at the table and then gathered my things.
"When are we going on tour?" Leanni asked as we exited the building.
"I'm going on tour in three weeks," I answered.
"Where will I go?" She inquired with a sad look.
"Grandma house," I stated helping her into the car. She screwed up her face and released an angry shrill.
"Look, little girl, where else do you expect to go? You can't go on tour with me! It's for adults!" I exclaimed.
"I WANNA SEE MY DAD!!" She shouted at me. I jumped back as I watched tears form in her eyes and her nose turn Rudolph red. She always made me felt bad after yelling at her and I really freaking hated that.
I sighed, "I'll speak to him about it alright." She nodded her head and buckled her seatbelt. I climbed into the front seat and started up the car, I was so tired and I just really, really, really didn't want Leanni at Christopher's house.
I pulled out of the parking lot and made a right instead of my usual left. I decided to skip finding a new backup dancer and just go get some McDonald's and ice cream. Leanni made me kind of depressed. At a red light I texted Sean to let him know that I couldn't make it and like I expected he wasn't happy.
Bankhead!: are you kidding?! Why?!
RiRi: Leanni isn't feeling well
Don't judge me okay. Leanni is his weakness, he's like a second dad to Lee Lee.
Bankhead!: oh! Does she want to come to my house for a bit? You could always do it by yourself and I'll watch her.
RiRi: I got her, no thanks. I haven't hung out with my child in a while.
Bankhead!: cute! Alright bye
I tossed my phone to the side noticing the line of cars behind me and floored it. Leanni was practically asleep in the back of my car, so when I pulled up to McDonald's I just ordered what I thought she might want.
When I lived in Brooklyn I was surrounded by every restaurant you could think and dream of, but I hardly ever got to eat anything excluding Pizza, I was saving for studio time. I always was when I was in high school, shit no one else was gunna help me.
When I got home, I put Leanni's food in the oven to keep it warm and her ice cream in the freezer. I carried her heavy behind into her room and laid her onto her bed.
When she was a baby, I used to play with her little fingers and toes and curly hair while she slept. I loved to hold her and admire her innocence and beauty, so much I would cry. A few times I did let my tears hit her cheeks, but I learned a while ago that it was silly to do things like that.
I cracked her door and then made my way to my bedroom, which I hardly ever slept in, with my Mighty Kids Meal in my left hand and chocolate ice cream in the right. I decided to play around with the new tv I got installed and figure out how to make the web show up.
I felt pretty crappy about what happened with Leanni so I wanted to discuss everything over McDonald's and ice cream. Once I figured it all out, I sent Christopher a skype call request and instantly he accepted. Almost as if he was waiting for it.
His blonde hair and gold nose ring were the first things I noticed on the screen, not the smokey air surrounding him. He smiled at me and waved childishly.
"What's up?" He asked raising an eye brow. He and I both knew that I hardly ever talked to him about anything face to face, especially after our horrible breakup, so he was being extra careful.
"Are you under the influence of any substances?" I queried chewing a fry.
"No, that's Rocky in there smoking," he answered.
"Aight well... Are you busy in three weeks?" I questioned looking down at my white bed sheets.
"I don't think so..." He replied knitting his eye brows together.
"Leanni wants to spend time with you while I'm on tour for two months and you've been bugging me about seeing her, so why don't you keep her until I get back?" I inquired. His eyes grew the size of golfballs and he covered his mouth in shock.
"Absolutely! I've been waiting forever!" He exclaimed. I shrugged. I really didn't like the sound of this.
"When do you want to meet up with our lawyers?"
"Woah, woah, woah. What about lawyers?!"
"I'm not gunna just let you keep her. If something happens I want to be able to sue your ass,"
"Still don't trust me huh?"
"Hell no! Not after--"
"Mommy, is daddy here?" A voice asked entering the room. I looked over at Leanni and smiled watching he scratch her eyes.
"Yeah, come say hi," I answered pulling her onto the bed. She waved with a grin equivalent to her father's and snuggled into my side.
"Hey, Babygirl! How are you?" Chris asked revealing his dimples.
"I'm fine. How are you, daddy?" She questioned.
"I'm great. Mommy and I are talking about letting you stay with me," he responded wiggling his eye brows.
"Really?!?!" She exclaimed grabbing onto my arm in excitement.
"Don't get too excited, Leanni. Mommy hasn't said yes yet," he warned her.
"Nice job, get her excited and then crush her dreams," I snarled narrowing my eyes at him.
"I'm just trying to let her know that it's a possibility," he retorted. This is why we don't need to be together we're always arguing.
