The next day, I sent Leanni on her way to school with her apology and essay to be presented to the class (the teacher would call me if any problems from now on) and headed to a cafe to chill with Kat. She wanted to have breakfast together like we used to in Brooklyn. I needed to take a step away from my fast paced life and take it back to the basics anyhow.
Today would be music and interviews, tomorrow was all Lee Lee's birthday party stuff, Friday was Chris' court date, and Saturday was my day off.
"So you like LA?" I asked Kat sipping my hot chocolate.
"Yeah, it's warm," she answered fixing her Chanel sunglasses a bit.
I gazed out at the marina surrounding us, "it's more than warm. It's beautiful... Inspiring."
"That's what I thought about Germany for awhile. I needed a change of scenery after a few years," she replied looking at some of the women in their bikinis.
"See anything you like?" I questioned smirking a little.
"I don't usually like white girls, but they kinda thick outchea," she responded licking her lips. I chuckled and shook my head. I stared out at the people going by and some of the shirtless men whilst eating some of my fried egg.
Some of the guys were cute today, especially the one across the way drinking his water and jogging in place. His pecks were glistening and his body was just everything I liked to see. He looked over and capped his water with a smug grin. He started jogging over and I nearly spilled my drink. I tried my best to act natural, same for Kat, but then I realized it was Trevor.
"I saw how you was lookin' at me, Rihanna," he said with a voice smooth as butter.
"I have sunglasses on, how do you know I was looking at you any kind of way," I replied whilst rolling my eyes. I placed my head into my palm and sighed. "You can leave now."
"Actually I came over here to ask you about when we're to discuss my salary next week," he stated.
"Excuse you? Who is this, Dee?" Kat questioned angrily.
"Trevor," I answered with a sigh.
"Ohhhh so this the cutie that got you losing your head, huh?" She queried with a grin.
"Kat, please. I'm not losing my head over him and he's not cute. In fact he was just leaving," I retorted shooing him off.
"Nah you said I could perform at Leanni's party. I ain't goin no where," he shot back.
Shit.
"I don't remember that," I lied with a shrug. He gave me a stale face and stretched his arms over his head. Kat and I both focused our attention on his glorious muscles flexing and convulsing. Trying to act unfazed, I sipped my hot chocolate and watched as he looked down at the watch on his wrist.
"You have a minute to admit the truth. And if you don't we're gunna have a serious problem," he said sternly.
"Um why the fuck do you want to perform at her party so badly?!" I questioned turning my whole body towards him.
"Because she's adorable and I love performing for my fans," I shuttered at the word 'fan'. My daughter was really a fan of this narcissistic asshole, "And I'm trying to get my name out there."
"Oh so you're just in it for fame?" Kat inquired.
"No, I honestly love Leanni and she's not even my kid. You should've saw her face when I told her that we might not be able to hang out on her birthday; now I have to do it," he explained. I rolled my eyes and took a deep breath.
"When do you wanna meet up about it? I'm free tomorrow between 3 and 5," I complied. "I can just drop her off at Auntie Kat's house and we can get a late lunch or dinner." His eyes lit up and he grinned from ear to ear.
"I can do four," he answered. Katrina was staring at me like I was the craziest person in the world. "Here's my number." He began to scribble down his digits on my hand and I nearly smacked the shit out of him. My jaw went slack and I stared at him angrily. He handed me the pen and I snatched it out of his hands, stabbing him with it in my mind.
He jogged away and I looked over at Kat who was giggling and shaking her head. "AND HE WONDERS WHY I DONT LIKE HIM!!!! Who the fuck writes on someone's hand without permission!!!?" I exclaimed.
"That's what I'm saying. He kind of makes me laugh. Like seeing how bold he was and the way you reacted was hilarious," she replied.
"Ugh I hate him," I stated typing his number into my phone. "Leanni's lucky she's my child. I wouldn't do this for my own mama."
"You don't even talk to your mom so how does that work?" She questioned.
"You're an idiot,"
"What?! I just wanna know things!"
"Go to school then,"
"Fuck you,"
"We already did,"
"NO YOU DID NOT! GIRL, DONT PLAY LIKE THAT!"
I died of laughter and sipped my hot chocolate wiping the lipstick stain on the cup off.
"Calm down and eat your English muffin," I ordered finishing off my fried egg.
Later that day I got a text from Chris asking me about Leanni while I was in the middle of an interview with Vogue. I knew it was unprofessional to be on my phone, but I was so comfortable that I had just pulled it out without thinking.
I quickly put it away before anyone saw and sipped my water. My red hair was bone straight with a gold bow pinned on the side of my head to match the gold and black Versace jacket I had on.
"So, Rihanna, what's your relationship status?" My interviewer spoke.
"Single," I said.
"Mingling or no?" She asked.
"No, I'm not ready for that just yet," I answered.
"Not even with upcoming singer Trevor Jackson?" She questioned. Why did everyone know about him except me?!
"Pardon?"
"There are many pictures in magazines and on media takeout about you and Trevor. Is there anything going on between you and him?"
"I don't understand how you would assume that... He's just a new backup dancer and frankly I don't like him very much,"
"Then why was he shirtless and you were at his apartment?"
"Um that's really no ones business, but there's seriously nothing going on between us. I was there to apologize for something I said that offended him. He was shirtless when I opened the door,"
"I'm sorry I just assumed that there was something going on because you had your daughter there and you broke up with Chris almost a year ago. Time to move on I guess..."
I stared at her in disbelief. I tried to be polite I really did. "I think we're done here," I said standing up. I gathered my things and made my way out the door with my assistant following suit. My blood was boiling. Bitches like her are the exact reason why I don't do interviews that often. They always in my business and pushing my limits and this time I refused to grin and bare it.
I didn't know shit about media takeout, but I couldn't figure out why I was so shocked that she brought up some paparazzi bull shit. I guess I was more angry about what she said about Chris and how much of time she wasted... I'm not even gunna pay for the photo shoot or anything to be honest, she got it. Bitch.
After finally calming down I texted Chris back.
Chris: Can I see Leanni tomorrow? I really miss my babygirl
RiRi: She's supposed to go to Kat's condo tomorrow. You can stop by there around 3:30
Chris: I kinda wanted to take her for ice cream.
RiRi: You can bring ice cream to the house but you can't take her anywhere.
Chris: Fair enough I guess... Yo who's Trevor Jackson?
I turned off my phone after seeing that and decided to go home early and start dinner. Even though it was only 2:00 and I could've fit in one more interview before I had to pick Leanni up from school, I wanted to have time to myself and have a drink or two. People frustrate me a lot these days.
I pulled into the parking garage and then parked in my spot. I could smell tequila and I hadn't even gotten out of the car yet. That's how badly I needed that drink.
The next day, I remained in bed and used my phone, computer and headphones to communicate with my assistant and other people about Leanni's birthday party. I planned to stay in bed up until 3:00. I had to get Leanni at 3:30 and drop her off at Kat's house so that I could meet Trevor at Olive Garden around 4:00.
I honestly wasn't sure about this whole meeting, my dislike for him was still very real but not as bad as it used to be. Lord knows I had to grin and bear it, the last thing I wanted to do with my time was spend it with Trevor trying to sort out the details for the party and his 'grand' performance for my daughter (said with the upmost sarcasm imaginable). Ugh.
