This isn't really a rant more of a praise.
Like I would write about it sooner but I missed it yesterday.
Alright in my household it was a right of passage when you became old enough to watch roots. I was about eight or nine year old.
Now thus story is built to groom you to know what white people did and how shit still hasn't really changed since we were out there picking cotton.
Like it was do good then, with its iconic characters. Kunta kinte is supposed to be a representative aspect that we come from warriors and how we should never let them shit on our lives.
Roots is truly the story of every African American, of African period.
It's a story of home and family. Not to mention resilience and hardship.
If you've never seen it I suggest you start watch the series before it's the end and spoiled
I would say watch the original first, but shit this is literally the longest movie in history so you'll be better off watching it now and then going back.
Not to mention some of these actors look hot af.
And the guy that play kunta kinte is jamaican irl. I just cant.
Roots is not just some shit told out of a history book, it's the truth it's not sugar coating anything about what happened back then and that's why i love it.
Watch it. It'll change your mind forever
