Clary
That afternoon, Jace forced us -me, Alec, and Izzy- to eat our dinner at Taki's.
We all agreed to go there -except Alec who refused to leave the institute. Maybe he's still mad at what happened.. But anyway, Jace finally succeeded to drag him out of the building and Alec was left with no choice except to follow him.
When we got there, I sat next to Jace, while Izzy sat in front of me, leaving Alec to sat in front of Jace -not that I mind. After we ordered our dinner, we all pretty much just casually talked even though I couldn't help the awkward atmosphere since Alec kept looking at me with tensed look or something I couldn't explain.
"So," Izzy spoke, "What did you guys do when we left? Anything fun?"
I gulped silently at her words. Oh god, Clary, calm yourself down! Izzy is always like that! I tried to clear my head off even though it's no use.
On the other side, Alec looked just casual, as if nothing ever happened. But little did I noticed the tense look on the vein in his neck. "I don't know, just boring stuff we usually do around," Alec shrugged.
"Such as?" Jace asked with a grin on his face. What the-
"I trained, and went with Magnus to discuss some stuff, barely spent my time in the institute," he lied, "I don't know what Clary did in there, but I'm sure she went grocery shopping. Didn't you, Clary?"
Awkwardly, I played along with his lies, "Uh yes.. I-I thought we might need to buy some fruits and stuff.. So, yeah.."
"Really? That's it?" Izzy laughed, "Come on, you guys! You two need to hang out a little more often, you've known each other for like what? Months? And yet you're still soo awkward." She complained playfully.
Yeah right, as if we never almost end up in bed.
"Yeah, I agree with Izzy, you guys are too stiff with each other," Jace agreed.
I locked my eyes with Alec, he looked slightly awkward and uncomfortable with this. But he broke our eye contact and shrugged anyway. "I don't find it necessary to do that thing you called 'hang out'," Alec's voice was deep, and cold. Making the smallest part of me cringe.
Why, thank you, mr. Rude guy.
"Okay now, you're being mean," Izzy stated, but there's a hint of playfulness in her tone.
However, before we could continue this one hell of a topic, the waiter came and brought our food.
We continued talking, but it's nothing about me and Alec anymore. We talked about random stuffs, about London Institute, and other things. Minutes and minutes passed,
When we got back to the institute, the sky was already dark. But there was still some hints of golden over the horizon where the sun just set.➰
Cold. It's the only thing I feel lately. After going back to the institute, we got a call from Magnus, he said that he would be here in less than 15 minutes. So Jace and Izzy quickly got inside -also with Alec, while I insisted to wait outside.
I was just leaning against the cold wall when I spotted Jace walking towards me with a suitcase in his hand, he looked as good as he always does. A smirk came upon his lips as he stopped in front of me. "You look tempting when you're alone, especially in the dark like this."
I rolled my eyes playfully at his words before I let out a chuckle, dry one.
He raised his eyebrows and pursued his lips, "Uh, Clary, can I ask you something?" His voice and expression are serious now.
