Alec
"Alec, you can't do this to me. I have a boyfriend."
Her words were like a hard slap on my cheek. Making me gasped in realization. I swallowed hard. Trying of any excuse to tell her that what we did was not wrong, but I know I'd be lying to myself too if I said that.
I put her down, and now she was standing in front of me. She still looked like a fallen angel, but Clary being Clary would never show her own weakness in front of anyone.
She put one hand on my cheek softly, looking into my eyes deeply. "It's alright, Alec, we'll get over this. We can pretend that this never happened," she said, "But to do so, I need you to stop doing this to me. This isn't just a game, Alec. You can't keep messing around."
"Messing around?" I found my own lips repeating her words, unbelievably. Her hand fell from my cheek but she didn't step back. "Do you think I'm just playing around?" My anger boiled, "Clary, wake up! I wouldn't have done anything like this if I was just 'messing around'! Hell, I wouldn't even be here talking to you if you're only my toy and this is all is just some stupid game!"
"You are the one who needs to wake up," she backfired. Her voice was low, but demanding. "I'm your freaking parabatai's girlfriend. Where did the real Alec Lightwood go? The one that stays loyal to his own parabatai?" She asked. Her voice was intimidating, making anger boils inside my veins even more. "Show me some respect. Show me that Alec Lightwood is still somewhere in there." She pointed at my chest at the last part.
Clary never did anything like that. Never have I thought she would say anything like that. But little did I know that she's right. She's right and this is wrong. "It's all so clear now, isn't it?" I spoke, surprisingly calm, but anger still visible on my tone.
She looked confused of what I just said but I didn't wait for her to say anything else.
It's clear now, isn't it?
She doesn't want this.
She doesn't want me.In a second, I made my way out of the training room, leaving her behind. Leaving everything else behind.
Clary
I lied flat on my bed, looking at the ceiling emptily. Too many things in my mind, too much for just one person.
There's time when you know it's right but you still feel bad for it, but there's also time when it's wrong but you still wished you could still doing it.
Right now, I feel both.
Alec Lightwood and the maze of his own mind. When he couldn't figured what himself meant, then how could I?
Saying those words to him makes me feel terrible. So terrible. But things need to be done and I rather hurt now before we grew something bigger and end up with more pain than we both already had.
I don't know how long have I been here, but I need to stop lying here and thinking about him over and over like this.
I moved my feet and made my way to the kitchen. There I saw something that made me narrowed my eyebrow; there were two paper bags filled with groceries on the kitchen stall next to the fridge.
Surprise! Alec Lightwood did do the grocery shopping. Note that.
I took a clear glass from the counter and pour some water. I drank it slowly, feeling the sensation of the cold liquid running down my throat. As I finish, I put the glass on the sink and washed my hands.
But that was when I suddenly felt two arms wrapped around my body from behind. I felt tense, angry. Spontaneously, I groaned, "Alec, how-"
"Alec?" The familiar voice behind me made me froze. No. This can't be happening.
Cursing in the back of my mind, I dared myself to look behind me, and yes, he was there. Jace with his confused expression. "Jace!" I turned and faced him with an awkward smile. "I thought you were Alec, since he's the only one in the house." I explained, awkwardly.
He looked at me with a questioning look for a second before he ended up laughing so hard. "Seriously, Clary? You really think Alec would do that?"
"Um.. Yes?" Hell, yes. Trying to not act strange, I continued, "I mean, he's the only one home, who knew if he could do things that he shouldn't, right?" Shit. How did I ended up in this part of conversation?!
"I know Alec," he said when his laugh died off, "I know what he might do and might not do. And what you just think isn't one of the thing he's in to."
Yeah right, I almost blurted out.
"Anyway, why are you here?" I asked, trying to change the topic. "I thought you were going to stay in London for a week."
"I am going to stay there for a week,"
"Yet you're here," I stated. "Oh, and why didn't you answer my phone calls?" I put my hands in front of my chest.
"Well, I got a little accident when I got there," he started, "the New York portal didn't land us to the London portal. We ended up landing on the Hyde Park."
I narrowed my eyebrows at his words, "How could that even be possible?"
"I don't even know, but it did," his hand was reaching down his pocket and he took something out from it. "My phone and Izzy's phone are broken," he handed me his phone. I tried to turn it on, and indeed, it was dead. "Wasn't a really fun time coming soaked as I got to the institute, plus the damned time I swam with the ducks, it was a really bad experience."
I burst out laughing at his words as the images of Jace Herondale swimming with ducks came to my mind. "You swam with ducks?" I asked, still laughing.
"Practically," he shrugged.
My laugh finally died off, but my smile still remained. "Anyway, why are you here then?"
"You made it sounds like you don't want me here, my love," Jace placed his hand in his heart dramatically, playing hurt.
I laughed a little at his words and action, "very funny, Jace." I said sarcastically.
He chuckled a little, "why thank you, Clary," he backfired with a playful smirk on his lips. "So," he started again, "I came back here because I left some things in here and The head institute of London wanted me to bring it there. He left me no choice but to come back to New York and take it."
I frowned, "so you're going back to London?"
"Only for a couple more days," he answered. "You'll be alright here, won't you?"
That's not the problem, I almost blurted out. But I couldn't tell him that, could I?
"Yeah, I'll be fine."_____________________
