Alya and Nino loved Christmas. They were in their Senior year of high school and there relationship was going strong. This was their first Christmas together and they were very excited. Well Alya was.

Nino on the other hand had something to tell her. It wasn't something that was good for their relationship either.

I know what your thinking and no he doesn't want to break up with her. He wants to do something worse. He wants to keep holding on.

Nino decided to apply for an American music college. He doubted he would get in, but he thought, "Why not try?" No harm no foul. It was a really nice college and it was a small probability he would make it, but he did make it.

He made the decision to go. Almost 95% of people that go to that college end up with a high paying job in the music industry. All he had to do was to tell her and that was supposed to be the easy part.

Alya showed up at Nino's house in her Christmas gear. She wore a mistletoe barrette and a red scarf with a red Christmas sweater. Of course, Nino had Christmas gear too and he wore a Christmas SnapBack with Red and green headphones and a green sweater. They were definitely dressed for the holiday.

"Merry Christmas, Mi Coeur." Alya said hugging him. "You look very festive today." She said messing with his sweater.

"Merry Christmas. You look great too." Nino said with a fake smile. He didn't want to tell her.

"Is something wrong?" Alya asked noticing his weird expressions.

"Time for presents!" Nino's mom yelled to them.

"We have to open presents." Nino smiled to her glad that his mom interrupted them.

"Okay. I love you." Alya said kissing his cheek.

"I love you, too." Nino said to her.

"Alya sweetie, how are you?" Nino's mom said hugging Alya.

"I'm good. How are you?" Alya asked returning the hug and smiling.

"Tired. There was so much wrapping." She sighed. "But it's all worth it." She smiled looking at Nino's family sitting around the tree.

"Alya! Can I sit with you?" Nino's little cousin asked. She had babysat her before.

"Of course, my little unicorn." Alya said picking her up and placing her next to her. She sat next to Nino.

They began opening presents. Alya mostly got gift cards which she was great fun for since she didn't expect to get anything. All the little kids were ecstatic to open presents. They tore through the paper like bulldozers.

"Here, Al. From me."  Nino said giving Alya a small box. Inside was a necklace with A ladybug miraculous themed jewel on the end.

"Nino, I love it. I definitely have to post it to my blog." Alya said kissing him. "I should give you your present too huh?" Alya said handing him a larger present.

Nino opened it to find a SnapBack with a red N on it. The hat was blue. "This is awesome. It must have been so expensive." He said admiring the hat.

"Your worth it." Alya smiled.

"Thank you, Al." Nino said kissing her again. It made him feel worse, but he kept the smile on his face.

Eventually it was time to eat and everyone sat at the three tables. The little ones had there own table and the older ones spread through the other two. Nino and Alya of course sat next to each other.

"This food is very good." Alya said to Nino's mom.

"Oh thank you. It took a long time to cook." She said.

"While I think it was worth the time." Alya said putting another bite in her mouth. Everyone at the table began to laugh about.

"So have you decided on college yet, Alya?" Nino's mom asked. Nino immediately perked up looking at his mom.

"Yes, actually, I'm going to the local college here so I can stay near my family." Alya smiled looking at Nino and then his mother.

"Well Nino," His mom began. Nino began motioning her to stop, but she ignored. "Is leaving us." She finished.

"Really?" She looked at her. "I thought you were going to the music school in Paris." She said confused.

"Oh no. He is going to a fancier music school in America." She said with a sassy time in her voice.

He's leaving and he didn't bother to tell me?, Alya thought. All of her emotions were coming at once.

"I didn't know you applied." She said as her eyes began to tear up. "That's really great, Nino. I'm happy for you." She said with a fake smile and watery eyes. "Excuse me." Alya said getting up from the table and walking to the bathroom.

"Mama! She didn't know." Nino sighed feeling very upset for not telling her.

"I'm sorry honey. I didn't know." His mom said truthfully.

Alya went in the bathroom and began to cry. He is leaving me. He is going to break up with me. Long distance doesn't work. I have to make it work. I wish I didn't love him so much, she thought as she took off her glasses.

There was a knock on the door. "Al, can you open the door. I need to talk to you." Nino said nicely.

Alya whipped her eyes and put her glasses back on. She took a deep breath and opened the door. "Why didn't you tell me?" She asked with her voice trembling slightly.

"I didn't know how." He said quietly. "It's a really good school, Al. I still want to be with you, we would just be a long distance couple." Nino said holding both of her hands.

"But those never work, Nino." Alya said her eyes becoming watery again.

"Hey. Well make it work okay." Nino said holding her face and looking deep into her brown eyes. He kissed her and she kissed him back. He felt her tear come down her cheek and land on his.

"Okay." She said hesitantly. Nino whipped her tears and they enjoyed the rest of their Christmas.
