Devin's P.O.V
I guess I was very overexcited today that even my aunt claimed that I've been hyper the whole day. I haven't told her the news yet because I'm worried she'll freak out again. I sat on my bed and turned my phone on, flipping through the contact book. It was only 3pm because I'd spent the past two hours with Jared in the park. To my surprise when I came back my aunt was already home because it was a half day off work or something. Anyways I ended up on Kristen's number and pressed call.
She picked up on the second ring.
"Yellow?"
"Green," I said and laughed. "Hey Krist, what's up?"
I asked and I heard her laugh on the other end as well. "Nothing much, just sitting at home being lazy since morning, you?"
"I just got home from Starbucks and I wanted to see you, you busy?"
"Nope, I welcome you to my house," she giggled "my parents are at work until 6 so you can come over."
"Sure, I gotta come over cause your too lazy to get your butt out of bed right?"
"Mhmm,"
"Alright then get ready I'll be there in 30 minutes."
"Okie, I'll get the snacks ready then,"
I hung up and put my phone next to me on the bed, then walked over to my closet opening it. I bit my lip and hummed for a few seconds until I finally found something to wear. I changed into this and went to my bathroom. I looked in the mirror and the outfit had turned out a little too dark. Damn it.
I opened the drawer and pulled out my straightening iron, plugging it in. As I waited a few minutes for it to heat up I took the advantage to paint my nails a dark pink. I blew them to dry quickly before taking the iron and just sliding it a few times across my hair to straighten out the bumps and loose strands. Once I was done I put everything back in it's place and went downstairs.
"I'm heading out to Kristen's house!" I yelled before leaving the house. I got into my car and started driving down the streets to where Kristen lived. I didn't even bother knocking as I knew her front door was already going to be open.
"I'm home!" I yelled and walked into the kitchen down the hall where Kristen was, she attacked me in a hug.
"Oohhh, so glad you came." She laughed and pulled back, taking a bowl of chips that was on the counter."Mind getting the cups?" I nodded and took the two glass cups and the bottle of pepsi that was on the counter. We walked into the living room that was quite large compared to ours. We set everything up on the table and sat on the couch. She turned the plasma screen on and flipped the channels.
"So anything new lately?" she asked looking for something for us to watch.
"I guess there is a little something," I said batting my eyelashes.
"ooh, then tell me right now!" she nudged me in the arm.
"Well, Jared and I are together now."
"No really?!" She shrieked and turned to look at me. "You guys are so cute together," she said attacking me in another hug. I just laughed.
"Kristen you know I don't like all that cute and romantic stuff," I said sitting up and pouring the drink in both of our glasses.
"You don't now but you sure will later," she giggled and popped a chip in her mouth.
We both stared at the screen that was playing a crime movie, we both watched not really paying much attention to what was going on. We drank and ate the chips while making comments on everything that was wrong in the movie instead of taking it seriously.
"So how are you and Lucas?" I asked out of no where, my body shivered from hearing that name.
"Oh, we are just great. He even asked me to be his girlfriend!" she squealed. "I can't believe I completely forgot about that!" She turned to face me and smiled.
"Umm, Krist can I tell you something, regarding Lucas?"
"Yeah sure." She took a drink of her Pepsi.
"Look, I don't think you should spend so much time with him." I looked down at my fingers.
"And why not?" she asked setting the cup down on the table.
"Because these past few days he's been flirting with me non stop. It got to the point where Jared already punched him today. I think he's stalking me or something and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one."
"Come on Dev, you can't be serious," she started laughing.
"I'm serious Krist, he's just going to hurt you." I looked at her straight in the eyes.
"Look Dev, I know he's really sweet and kind and so romantic! He loves me and I love him," she said with a smile.
"He's just showing that to you, he's trying to fool you and is hooking up with other girls somewhere else."
"You can't prove anything, let's just stop talking about this."
"No," I shook my head. "I care about your safety Kristen and I don't want that jerk to hurt you one day, just let him go."
"Devin, don't tell me what to do. I love him and I'm going to stay at his side forever. You're only just jealous."
"Me? Jealous?"
"Yes you," she spat.
"What am I supposed to be jealous of? Your idiot boyfriend?"
"Yeah you are because Jared probably doesn't give you gifts and take you out on romantic dates."
I stood up. "Yeah because there was nothing else to be jealous of in this world right? I can't believe you said that Kristen. I thought you were my best friend but I guess you don't give a shit what I say." I took my bag and put it on my shoulder. "Don't come running to me when you catch Lucas hitting on some girl one day and break up with him." I rolled my eyes and sped out of the living room.
"Just leave Devin you're being so stupid right now."
"Oh right, I'm the stupid one here," I mumbled and rolled my eyes running out of the house. I threw my bag inside the car and angrily started driving back home.
