I dial Liam's number again and anxiously wait for him to answer. After the third ring he finally picks up and I sigh of relief.
"Kim! What' up?"
"Hey Liam, I...erm..wondered if I could spent the night at yours today? Only if you're ok with it..." I twirl a strand of blond hair around my finger and stare at my purple suitcase laying on the ground, ready to go.
"Of course Kim, you can come whenever you want! But tell me, what's wrong?" His tone goes from happy to extremely worried. He knows me so well and I'm glad to know that I have someone like him on my side.
"I'll tell you when I get there, see you in twenty minutes?" I answer and he agrees. We both hang up and I take my suitcase, leaving the flat immediately.
Carla was going to be there soon and I don't want her to see me leaving, even if it's momentarily. I don't want her to think that she won or something, and I decided that I was going to act like nothing happened, and see how far she's going to go. I know I haven't done anything wrong, so I'm just going to wait until she reveals what's behind her head.
Plus, I have to talk to Harry. I have to know if he really plotted everything or if I was just jumping into conclusion. To be honest, it'd make sens if Harry actually planned all of this, or why would Carla suddenly have a boyfriend? Without telling me?
When I leave the building, I'm happy to see that I haven't seen both of them on my way. I wait for a cab in the cold weather. It was starting to get dark outside and I didn't want to stay alone on the streets. Finally, a taxi stops in front of me and I enter the warm vehicle, telling the driver Liam's address. Twenty minutes later, I stop in front of his parents house and see him waiting on the front porch.
When he sees the car, he walks closer to the sidewalk and waits for me to get out, holding my suitcase with one arm. I thank and pay the driver before following Liam inside the house.
He, just like Luke, still lived with his parents. It was a modest house, with small rooms and many furniture. Even if this place wasn't huge or luxurious, I still loved it. There's always that comforting smell of baked cookies and the sound of small kids talking and adults discussing. It was a warmhearted place and none of that would have been possible if it wasn't for Liam's mom.
Karen was a hard worker. She'd do anything to pleas her kids and she loved them with all her heart. She treated me like one of them and always welcomed me with opened arms. She was such a maternal person and I considered her like my second mother, even tho she acted more like one than my actual mom.
I enter the small white kitchen, while Liam takes my suitcase upstairs, and a gigantic smile appears on her face when she sees me. She leaves her wooden spoon in her bowl and gives me a warm hug. Her vanilla sent wraps me in a bubble of comfort and I hug her back, needing the love of a mom.
"Oh honey, I haven't seen you in a while!" She pulls away and takes a better look at me." You're such a beautiful woman, your boyfriend must be really lucky"
"I don't have one Karen" I laugh and she pinches my cheek.
"Well your future boyfriend will be really lucky" She corrects herself and hugs me one more time before going back to her food.
"What are you baking?" I ask and take a better look inside the bowl.
"A banana and chocolate chip cake" I approach my finger to the mixture but she slaps it away.
"Don't you taste it now!" she points her wooden spoon at me, threatening. I pout and she laughs at me. "Wait till I pour it inside the mould, then you and Liam can lick the rest" she adds and I nod, giggling.
