Affection

About twenty minutes later, the front doors open and come in Liam's parents. At the same time, the door of the office right in front us also opens and Liam, Luke, Amanda and inspector Higgins step outside. Harry and I both jump in our seats and immediately stand up, surprised to see all of them simultaneity appear suddenly.

"Liam!" Karen cries and runs over to her son, holding him in a tight hug. He slowly rubs circles in her back, while she sobs on his shoulder, staring at his dad who's giving him a disappointed look. 

"Welcome sir, I'm Inspector Higgins." The officer shakes hands with Geoff, this last one looking slightly intimidated by his large frame. 

"Geoff Payne, I'm his father." The inspector nods and shows the door of his office to Liam's dad. They enter the small room, followed closely by Liam and his mom. My best friend didn't make any eye contact with me and it worries me even more. He probably hates me now, I'm sure.

The moment the door closes behind Liam's back, Lucas and Amanda rush over to where Harry and I are standing. They both give me a tight hug, especially Luke, asking about how I feel.

"What happened with Liam? What are they going to do with him?"I ask both of them while Harry draws patterns with his thumb on my hand. I see Luke glance at our intertwined fingers and a small frown forms on his face. My heart beat quickens as I realize someone else now knows about my relationship and I get more nervous suddenly. 

Will I ever get used to the fact that my relationship with Harry will be public now? I don't know, but it sure as hell stresses and freaks me out a lot.

"He's safe" The frown on Lucas' face disappears, quickly replaced by a look of relief. I suddenly feel like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders and I sigh, glad to know he isn't going to be in a bad situation. We can't help the large smiles we have on our faces and, on a rush of happiness, I hug Harry tightly, letting a small tear escape my eyes. He chuckles and hugs me back, as joyful as I am right now.

"Don't you want to know why?" Amanda says and I turn around to look at her. An evident smirk has formed on her face, but I don't know if it's because of Harry and I or of what saved Liam. Still, curiosity takes over me and I stare at both of them  with interest.

"Yes, I want to know! Why?" A large grin appears on Lucas face and he straightens his posture, bulging his chest with pride.

"Because the future lawyer you have in front of your eyes saved the situation" He says and Amanda giggles, a light shade of crimson tinting her cheeks.

"Lucas! What did you tell them?" I mirror Amanda's actions while he swept away imaginary dusts off his shoulder.

"I used what I learned in college to get his arse out of here. They had no rights to arrest him like they did yesterday and I proved them wrong with a bunch of laws I had to study for law school. Plus, Liam's palm may have the same size as the hand-print, but his thumb is longer." I shake my head in disbelief and wrap my arms around him, so glad  he was here to help.

"Gosh, I love you Lucas! You're the best!"

"Rrrroooh stop it....But at least you know!" We all laugh and I playfully nudge his chest.

"But" A sad thought suddenly flashes in my head, popping my small moment of joy. "How does he feel? Does...Does he hate me now?" I chew on my bottom lip, nervous to know what will their answer be. Amanda's face contorts in concern and she places a hand on my shoulder.

"No, Kim, he doesn't hate you...We've explained to him what happened, he knows it's not your fault. You weren't even awake when all of it happened. Why would you think that?"
