"This is so exciting!" I squealed as the carriage - I mean car - move us up the path. Nate laughed at my excitement as I eagerly looked through the window.

Today was my first day at of 'high school'. I was nervous and excited. What lessons did the school teach? I learned to read and write on my own and grew a love for books. I had a personal shelf of scrolls in my lamp with history and stories. The idea of learning made me almost starting bouncing in my seat.

"Okay Clarissa," Nate said and I gave him my undivided attention. "I know you're new to this time era, but I need to tell you to lay low. Don't put too much attention on yourself. Remember to call me Nate, not Master, and that you don't use magic. It's alright to make friends...Just be careful. I can show you your classes and we can eat lunch together, alright?" Nate asked with uncertainty.

I nodded my head obediently. I would be quiet. Or as Nate said- lay low.

Nate soon stopped his contraption and got out. He unrestrained me from the straps and helped me out of the carriage. I looked in front of the building in awe.

So this is 'high school'. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. I turned to Nate.

"I don't understand. It's not on clouds or in the sky. Isn't that high school?" I asked in confusion.

Nate chuckled and shook his head.

"Sorry Clarissa, you haven't been in that lamp long enough for that advancement. Come on, let's get your schedule ready, I already got you registered." Nate guided me into the school and I looked around in shock. The halls were crowded with students. My eyes widened in shock at their attire. They wore multiple colors, their fabric different with leather, silk, or cotton. I looked at a girls' hair and almost screamed. I tugged at Nate's sleeve in shock.

"Is that girl's hair pink?!" I squealed in shock and amazement. "What magic did she use? I didn't know we could do such a thing..."

"Clarissa, calm down. People are staring!" Nate hissed. I turned and saw a few people give us strange expressions. I looked at Nate guiltily. Nate's expression softened as he continued. "I can tell you all about it later, but for now you need to stay calm."

I held in a pout and nodded my head as Nate guided me into other quarters. A lady was working behind a desk.

"May I help you?" the woman said in a bored tone.

How can she be bored here? It's school!

"Yes, um my friend here is a new student," Nate explained.

"What's your name young lady?" the lady asked as she began pressing buttons on a board.

I glanced at Nate and he nodded his head, wanting me to give her the false name he created. I turned to the lady again.

"Clarissa Jameston," I said sweetly.
