VII.

It was time for lunch.

I was starving and needed to feed myself. I felt close to eating a whole dragon (don't tell Louis).

Chloe and Kayla dragged me to a table. It was a pleasant surprise that Nate was already sitting at the table with two other boys.

"Hey Clarissa, how were your first classes?" Nate asked with a smile. I smiled back at him.

"It was wonderful! I made friends with Kayla and Chloe," I beamed. Kayla and Chloe giggled as we all sat down.

"Whoa man, don't hog her for yourself. Introduce us to the lady", a brown-haired boy asked.

Nate rolled his eyes but introduced us.

"Clarissa, I want you to meet my best friends. This is Tyler," he pointed to the brown haired boy. "And this is Zach," he pointed at a light brown curly haired boy.

I waved at them and they smiled at me.

Zach leaned into Nate.

"Dude, she's hot as hell. I may have to take a run for my money," he tried to whisper but failed. I felt myself get red from embarrassment and confusion at his words. Nate punched him in the shoulder and turned to me.

"Do you need help getting your lunch?" Nate asked.

I nodded my head and together we went to get my lunch.

Nate gestured for me to grab a tray and pick what I wanted from the menu. I tapped my chin as I read the menu. I nodded my head and I turned to a lady looking at me with a scowl.

"May I try the chicken salad please?" I asked shyly.

The lady grunted before placing it on my tray. I say a quick thank you as Nate ushered us away. He paid at the register before grabbing my tray and leading me back to the table.

We sat at the table once more as I eat my salad, secretly in awe of the meat. I never had meat this way before, I will have to thank the lady later. I sat between Nate and Chloe, while Kayla was across from me. Tyler and Zach sat between Kayla.

"So Clarissa, where did you move from?" asked Tyler. Everyone looked at me expectantly.

"I came from Ohio. My parents left me here and I didn't have anywhere else to stay. You need to thank Nate. He let me stay at his home until I can go somewhere else" I said smoothly.

Nate and I set up a false life for me. I rehearsed this many times. If anyone asked questions, I would hopefully be able to answer them.

"Your parents just left without any notice? Who the hell does that? They don't deserve to be parents and deserve to go to hell. If I ever saw them, I would tie them and gut them slowly." screamed Chloe.

We all covered our ears. Chloe can scream. I looked at Nate in shock. Was she allowed to do that?

Nate seemed to understand my question and shook his head. I sighed in relief.
