Part II: Chapter 23

"Raven!" I hissed up the closet to the attic as the loud noises continued. "What are you doing!?"

At the sound of my voice, he appeared immediately with a fresh smile on his face.

"Wow...you look...bored."

He nodded quickly and held out his hand to help me up. I took it, and he couldn't lift me up as strongly as usual, but he held firmly onto my wrist while I climbed up.

Looking around, he'd tried to rearrange things. That's what was so noisy...

"Why couldn't you watch TV or something? Or play against yourself in chess? I heard that all the big pros do it."

He pressed the 'on' button on the TV remote and it flickered to the ominous 'no signal' screen.

"Oh, wonderful. Broken." I sighed. He'd probably gotten bored of chess. Now what was he supposed to do?

I plopped down in the nearest chair, glad to be done with my day already. Raven reached up and stretched before dropping on his mattress, yawning, only to freeze mid-stretch with a grimace and as he tried and failed to massage his aching neck and lower back.

"Still sore?" I asked. I'd already said it before I realized it was a stupid question.

But he nodded anyways.

I mean, if all he needs is a neck rub, he's certainly earned it after protecting me in the crash. "Hey, come here."

He looked surprised, but walked over to me as I stood up.

"Take your shirt off."

He raised an eyebrow.

"Just do it."

He grew a suspicious, sly grin.

"I'm giving you a neck rub, don't give me that look."

He still smirking, he unzipped and removed his shirt. He looked down at me with his bare chest inches from my nose.

"Um, hi... Turn around." I had to grab his shoulder and turn him myself, then gave him a neck rub where he'd tried to do it himself.
