My life changed forever the day I found him, half dead, and covered in horrifying old and new scars alike; the winged man. He was so beaten and terrified... I couldn't just leave him there, so...I took him home with me. I did my best to coax him out...
But my Raven never came to save me. He never burst into the door and swept me off my feet and flew me into the sunset.
"How about we have this next round upstairs?" Earnest suddenly suggested to the group. "She's got a lot more cleanin' to do."

Oh thank f*ck... I thought desperately as Earnest came and offered a distraction. Is it working...?
Craig smiled and headed to leave, following Ben, and a weight was instantly lifted from my shoulders.
Woodman nodded sensibly and followed suit, motioning to Percy when he resisted.
Oh my god...holy sh*t... It did work... It's going to be okay...
Earnest and I locked eyes for a moment before he went upstairs with the others and forcefully locked the basement door behind him, trapping me in.
I dropped down to sit at the bottom of the cage, which still had a handful of feathers and bloodstains. Raven. It was so awful, everything I saw that they did to him; it made me sick.
In the floor of the cage, I saw that familiar name etched into the rusted metal; 'raVen'. I traced it longingly with my fingers as I felt myself shattering inside...
I'd cry, stop for a bit, then repeat, running out of tears as I wished I'd gotten more than one glass of water.

They're never going to let me go.
I cried tearlessly for another spell.
I have to escape. I have to get out of here before Raven gets trapped trying to free me.
Raven escaped while they were drunk, and they'd forgotten he escaped the next day. It took the way-smarter way-stronger Raven eight years to get out. I can't just wait for them to slip up, I need a plan.
But I didn't have a plan. Plans and fights were for Raven, not for me. I wasn't super smart, I wasn't super strong, I wasn't anything. If I could just make it out of the house and run to a main road, someone could help me. Or even just run right home...
