some girls are full of heartache and poetry and those are the kind of girls who try to save wolves instead of running away from them.

__________

Amaris never wanted it to end. She wanted to kiss Jon until the end of time. She could not understand why people ever stopped kissing. Kissing felt so blissfully amazing. When Jon finally pulled away, she found herself chasing after his lips.

The two of them were panting, standing in the smelly stables under dusty, gray light. It was not exactly a picturesque setting for a first kiss, but Amaris found it utterly perfect.

"My lady," Jon mumbled, "I apologize."

"Don't," Amaris said boldly. "I would like you to do it again."

Jon's cheeks flushed pink, drawing a large smile from Amaris. Her warm eyes seemed to sparkle under the gray light that lingered around them.

"I shouldn't," he said.

"You should," she replied, exuding confidence.

As he looked at her, Jon realized that he could not place the time he let Amaris in and under his skin. He had no idea when he allowed himself to become so enamored with the girl who was guaranteed to become the lady of Dragonstone and all of Storm's End. When had he fallen for this girl with sand colored skin and almond eyes and dusty rose lips?

"Why should I?" Jon asked, his tone challenging.

Seemingly caught off guard, Amaris blinked and squared her shoulders. She drew herself up to full height and stepped towards Jon. With each step she took towards him, he stepped back until his back was against the wall of the stable.

"Why should you kiss me?" Amaris whispered. "Or why should you let yourself fall for me as I am falling for you?"

Jon gulped. "You don't mean that. You shouldn't mean that. There is nothing I can give you."

"Is happiness nothing, Jon Snow?"

__________

"You like her."

"Robb," Jon sighed, "stop talking."

The Stark laughed loudly at his sullen half brother.

"You like her," Robb stated once more. "And I daresay she likes you as well."

Staying silent, Jon thought back to the way it felt to have Amaris' hands in his hair while they kissed. How her body curled against his while his hands gripped her hips. He forced himself out of the memory and focused on clashing his practice sword against Robb's.

"And why would you not like her?" Robb said. "She is certainly beautiful and funny and intelligent and witty. She loves it here up north. Oh, and how could one forget? Her uncle is the king, she is somewhere in line for the throne, should her whole family die. Even so, she is the heir to Storm's End. She needs to find a husband – preferably one that would allow the Baratheon name to carry down. A bastard perhaps? Ah, yes, I can see why Amaris is so appealing to you now."

Furiously, Jon threw his sword down and shoved Robb backwards. "That is not true, Stark. There are many more reasons to find Amaris lovely."

When Robb smirked knowingly with a triumphant glint in his eyes, Jon knew he had been played. Groaning, he picked the training sword back up and dug the tip into the ground.

"So, you do care for her then?" Robb asked.

"Yes," Jon exclaimed, throwing his hands up in exasperation. "I care for her much more than I should and I hate myself for it. She deserves better than me. She only thinks she wants me, but she doesn't. Not truly."

"Who are you to say and determine what Lady Amaris desires, Jon?" Robb asked, raising his eyebrows. "Perhaps you are correct and she will wake up three moons from now regretting any fondness for you that she ever held within her heart. Or she will wake up three hundred moons from now and know that she made the right choice is loving you. Neither of you can truly know what you will both want in the future, but that cannot stop you from happiness. Do not allow it to."

__________

Amaris missed her family. She missed her home. Being in Winterfell made her nostalgic. She longed for the days when she could run about her home with her mother chasing after her. The Starks all seemed to genuinely love and care for each other. Nothing like that was in King's Landing.

Just as she was pulling the bed covers back so she could retire for the night, someone knocked on her door. Cursing the fact that she was in nothing other than a skimpy shift, she tugged a fur blanket around her shoulders and held it there as she walked to the door.

"Robb," she greeted pleasantly when she pulled the door open. "What, may I ask, is the reason for you calling on me at such an hour?"

Robb's face bore a large, cheeky grin as he leaned forward on the balls of his feet.

"A letter came for you, my lady," he said, a glint of mischief in his eyes as he thrusted a folded piece of parchment in her direction.

Apprehensively, Amaris eyed the letter but relented and took it from his outstretched hand.

"Thank you, my lord, for delivering this," she said.

"Think nothing of it, my lady," Robb said, winking at her and retreating down the hall.

Shaking her head at his antics, Amaris shut the door once more and sat down on the edge of her bed. Yawning, she opened the letter and began scanning the words.

My lady, Amaris,
It is rather silly of me to be denying myself and you such happiness.

Jon.
