Robb was sleeping soundly, his face full of the peacefulness only a child could know. Rubbing his soft, round cheek with her forefinger, Amaris held her breath, scared any sound would wake him.
"He's been down for a long time," Aislinn, Robb's wet nurse, said. She had a sweet, round face and kind eyes. "You should wake him. A boy needs his mother."
Nodding, Amaris reached into the crib and pulled Robb from the cot. Humming quietly to draw him out of sleep, she crossed the floor and sat down in one of the soft, cushioned chairs by the fire. He stirred quietly in her arms and yawned softly before opening his little, brown eyes.
"Hello, my sweet," Amaris whispered, holding him out in front of her. "Hello, my handsome boy. Mama's here."
He was were already so strong, able to hold his head up on his own and push off her thighs with his own legs. His small fist reached out and touched her cheek. Smiling, Amaris brought him close and peppered his cheeks with soft kisses. His little voice giggled at his mother's actions.
"I thought I'd find you in here."
Looking up from Robb, Amaris saw Sansa standing by the door, smiling.
"Sansa," Amaris said, returning the smile. "I missed you."
"And I you," Sansa said. "I'm glad you've returned. It has been quite busy here."
She was holding back; Amaris could tell. Sansa was displeased with the Dragon Queen's presence, and Amaris couldn't say she was wrong for it.
"I heard Arya and Bran returned?"
"You didn't see it?" Sansa asked.
Pursing her lips, Amaris stood up and placed Robb on her hip. His tiny hands grabbed tightly at the fabric of her bodice as she walked towards Sansa.
"I've seen bits and pieces of things but after— after everything that happened to my sister, and— I've tried to repress the visions." Frowning, she looked down at her son and brushed his curly wisps away from his forehead. "It's a terrible burden to know everyone's future, Sansa."
Sansa nodded solemnly. "Arya will be happy to see you."
"Not Bran?" Amaris asked, arching her eyebrows up.
"Bran is... different from before," Sansa said carefully. "So is Arya, of course, but it's not the same."
Deciding not to question it, Amaris hoisted Robb further up on her hip. He nuzzled his head against her chest and made a soft babbling noise.
"I suppose it is time for our meeting," Amaris said.
"Yes."
Nodding, Amaris turned back to where Aislinn sat, minding her own business.
