"Ellen? Hi! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to be rude, I didn't recognize your number!"

"Oh I know, dear! I'm sorry for calling you, I asked Sophia for your phone number, I hope you don't mind.."

"Not at all! Is everything alright?" Is Albert okay?

"Yes! I called because I wanted to invite you to have dinner with us four tonight.. it's Sophia's birthday so I think that she deserves something special for her and you surely need to be present." Ellen says and I'm speechless.

"Oh, I really apreciate it, but I can't-"I really don't know what to say, with everything going on between Albert and I there's no way I'm going.

"Please, dear! I know you and Albert are passing through a tough situation, but it's important to underline the fact that this is for Sophia and not for my son,"

"Ellen, I don't know if it's a good idea for me to go. Albert said really hurtful things to me and I really don't want to shake the tightrope even more."

"Please dear, the dinner it's going to be in a restaurant so Albert won't say anything about it, besides I know that he will be thrilled to see you, you know how big his pride is.." Ellen giggles.

"Yes, I know.." I slightly smile.

"So, can I make the reservation for five?"

"Um, Yes?" My subconscious is yelling for me to say 'no' but Ellen is so kind to me and I know that she would be upset if I'd take 'no' as an answer.

"Wonderful, dear! Thank you! See you later!" Ellen says hanging off the phone.

I really don't know what to expect from Albert when he sees me. A twist of anxiety forms on the top of my stomach.

I've should said no. I just couldn't. Not only because of Ellen but because I'm indebted to Sophia. I left her birthday party yesterday so I think that she would be really upset with me if I missed this dinner on her birthday. On the other hand, she really lied to me about this Andrew and Alice situation.. she said she didn't know if Albert was going to pick up Alice for the party and that she did call him which was totally an enormous lie. Still, I feel bad for not having told her the truth about James' age, so I'm going.

I just hope that Albert won't be too mad at me for showing up after all those horrible things he said to me.
