"How dare you to say those things to my son?!" My mum raises her tone and steps protectively in front of me.
"Mum, what are you doing here?"
"I'm here to bring you back to Primrose, you have a lot to explain and you're grounded."
"What? You have been lying to me my entire life and you think you can just ground me?" Is she fucking serious?
"Everything I've done was to protect you! I am exhausted son, tired of fighting with you like I'm not your mother and don't have the power to put some good sense inside of your head!"
"Mum, you don't have the right to do that! I am not five anymore!"
"Oh yes I have! I'm your mother and you're my son and I will not continue with this back and forth! Your dad is gone Albert! Understand that!" Her words splash against my face and I feel pain and anger rushing inside of me.
"Wait, what?" Lauren steps between us looking straight at my mother.
"Don't even try to disrespect me in front of my son, Lauren! You've caused enough damage to my family already!" My mum grabs my arm but I instantly jerk away.
"So that is what you have been telling to your son? That is the reason why you left Liverpool and never called?" Lauren steps forward challenging her.
"I left this city because I wanted to give my son a better future and a better life without all of these bad memories taunting him!"
"So you kept him away from his father?!" Lauren is yelling by now and the two are giving a fucking headache.
"His father is long gone! Since he wanted to leave us to stay with you!" My mother screams and the anger boiling inside of me vanishes briefly in dry silence.
What?
"Robert didn't want to leave his son, only you!"
"Albert was five years old! He was leaving us because of you and now you're here to be the hero of the story and bring all the truth to the surface? You are pathetic!"
"I'm pathetic? You have been telling your son that his father what? Left you, abandoned you, because he was a selfish bastard who didn't care about his family after the car accident?!"
"What? Dad spoke to you after the accident?" I turn around to face my mum now. Her face is pale like lime and I know she's nervous to face me by the way her eyes focus painfully on mine.
"Enough! Albert, get in the car now!" raises her tone and I jerk my arm off her grip.
"I'm not getting in the fucking car with you! Lauren, you said you were going to tell me everything, please!" I turn around to the curly haired woman behind me. She looks lost but kind of more sober than my own mother in some way.
"Don't you even dare Lauren! He's my son! You don't have the right to do that!"
"How can you keep lying to him? He's sixteen years old for god's sake! He grew up without his father because of you." Lauren says with a lower voice and small tears are formed in her blue eyes.
"Shut up, Lauren! I'm not lying to him. I'm only protecting him from his father's choices!"
"I am not going to shut up this time! I won't make it easy for you no, I've spent my whole life quiet because of you and now I'm finally going to make it right." Lauren's breathing is all over the place as she grabs the edges of the couch for support.
"Now, he chose me because he loved me! Not you! And right when he said he was going to tell you, one hour later I receive a call from the hospital saying that he was with serious injuries?!" Tears fall down her face and my stomach is turning with realisation.
