Chapter 20 - Glacial Spirits

Talia's POV

We arrived on time and made our way to the house with pur luggage.

I ran in and put my luggage in my room and ran back outside to the main room. "Can I go to the market?" I asked excitedly. mum chuckled.

"Here you go sweetie" Mum said as she handed me some money and ruffling my hair.

"Mum" I whined flattening my hair back down as I ran out the front door.

I ran down to the market, to a stall that had, strangely, vegetarian snacks, I brought some kale cookies and wondered around the market a bit and bought some seal jerky for mum and Kya, as although they lived a lot of the time like air benders (vegetarian) they still like meat, only not around dad, Kya more so as she now lives of the island.

I was making my way back and received some weird glances because I was walking around in my water tribe casual clothes but I had my tattoos showing. I arrived back at the house, I opened the door and closed it to strap the icy southern breeze out the house. I [laced the seal jerky on the side and left to my room to meditate.

"We're going  to the opening ceremony soon" Mum said outside out doors. "So get ready" she added afterwards.

We headed out and waited at the front of the crowd. Uncle Sokka did his speech about the tribe and how in the past thirty ish years its water bending population has almost returned to its former glory. Then Dad stepped up and talked about Balance , our progress since the war and our connection to the spirits, After everyone cheered and went to the stalls and games. I got given a small allowance from Mum and Dad along with my siblings, and went with some frineds I ade over the previous day.

"Come on!" I laughed as we raced to the stools.

The next day of the festival it was the Day of the Winter Solstice. The main day of the Festival. It was the evening and Talia went to find Kya. "Hey Kya" Talia said cheerfully as she ran over in her blue dress and fur cloak, this time her tattoos showing.

"Who's this Kya" one of the girls with Kya asked nicely and sweetly. Kya groaned. 

"This, Ura, is Talia" Kya huffed, "My annoying younger sister"  She grumbled 'annoying' under her breath. "Why don't you go play with you spirit frineds seeming as there the onky frineds you've got" Kya said bitter sweetly.

Talia looked down sadly and walked away tears brimming her eyes, it soon turned into a waterfall and she exited the area and ran absent-mindedly. She slowed after a bot and walked across a frozen tundra with intervals when she flew among the snowflakes that seemingly danced around. She eventually reached a frozen forest, something about the forest drew her closer until she reached the centre where it was like a cave surrounded by frozen vegetation in glistening ice. She reached a glowing dome that stood in the middle of the hollowed out ice area, it drew her closer, like it was talking to her. there was an aspect of something mystical and spiritual about it that she found comforting and familiar.
