I knew that I told you
It wasn't jealousy.
I was just curious of what you do
When you're with her and not me.
I wonder if you take her
In places you told me.
That we'll spend someday together
Just us, you and me.
I think of what you tell her
When you call her at night.
The same way you did to me
I remember it was last night.
I imagine the things you give her
'Cause you've given me the same.
That I promised to keep forever
I wonder if she did the same.
You made me cry on your shoulder,
You told me your lamest jokes.
We watched movies together,
And ran around like fools.
Our hands were intertwined
As we made our way to church.
I pretended to be your bride
You stared at me in return.
I was about to say "yes, I do",
When your phone in pocket rang.
You didn't even say a word,
You left me there and ran.
I waited for your call
But disappointment I did get.
I learned from a friend of yours
She needed you 'cause she's upset.
One, two, three days have passed,
We hardly see other.
You didn't even spare me a glance,
When we bumped into each other.
I can't take it anymore
So I asked you what was wrong.
I found out just this morning
That I loved you all along.
You said we cannot be
What we used to be before.
I asked "why?" and it hurt
To hear from you the answer.
"We're best friends" you told me,
Not even looking away.
"But I have her now,
And she wants us to part ways."
"Best friends" that's what we were,
And forever we will be.
I didn't get a chance to say
What I feel before you left me.
I loved you from the very start,
I will love you 'til the end.
Even if you broke my heart,
'Cause we are just "best friends".
[ Who can relate? I cried when I wrote this, you know. But I've never been in a situation like this so I asked myself so many times as to why I wrote such a heartbreaking piece. ]
