You think of me as someone

With a strong heart, mind, and soul.

You never see the broken me

Lifeless and alone.

You look up to me as if

I never needed saving.

You believe I am the hero

With a happy ending.

For years I have been

The strongest in your eyes.

You never knew that I was

Alone at night when I cry.

The smiles I have faked

Everytime I looked at you.

The tears mixed with raindrops

Just so you never knew.

The words I have spoken

To keep you tied to Him.

The words I long to hear

To heal me from within.

The hugs I have offered

To melt your heart of ice.

The hugs I wish for me

To have on my vulnerable times.

I am strong, but I am not.

I am happy, but I am not.

I am myself, but I am not.

I always tell you that I am,

When the truth is I am not.
