Chapter Seven

Calliope

Penny was at work and Sofia was at school. The apartment was clean, and I had nothing to do.
Until

Ring ring
My phone buzzes.
I click the green cell phone when I see that the caller ID was Miranda Bailey.
"Hello?"
"Callie." She says warmly.
"Hey, Miranda. What's up?"
"I know that this is a lot to ask..." Miranda says. "But I was wondering if you could come to Seattle?"
"What? Why?" I ask.
"We have a patient here with seventy fractured bones, and our new orthopedic attending isn't prepared for this. I know you've had experience with this type of thing before. We'd pay you?"
"Yeah, yeah sure. I'm sure Penny will keep an eye on Sofia. When can you fly me out?"
"In three hours."
"See you then."

I hang up then I dial Penny.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's me."
"Calliope!" Penny says warmly.
"Hey, Bailey is flying me out to help her with a patient. Could you watch Sofia for a couple of days?"
A long pause. "Sure."
"Thanks, Pen. Love you!"
"Mhmm."

Lastly, I had one more call to make.

"Hello?"
"Mark!" I exclaim. "I'm coming to Seattle. Would you like to grab dinner with me tonight?"
He chuckles. "Yeah, sure. It's eleven now. You get here at one, fix the patient until seven, and we can grab dinner at eight?"
"Sounds like a plan!" I say cheerily. "Where you wanna eat?"
"I'll make a reservation at Red Robin."
"Sounds good. Bye Mark."
"See you, Callie."
