Alex's p.o.v

"Alex please let me explain" I heard him say. Maybe I should give him a chance? I don't know, I'll have to see what he says.
"Fine" I said sitting back down on the couch. This time it was as far as from him as I could go. "Explain" I said crossing my arms and sitting back.
"Remember that story I told you?" He asked. I nodded.

*flashback*

"Um, I'm just going through a break up. A really hard break up." He explained
"Oh" was all I said.

*reality*

"What about It?" I asked, with an attitude. He looked hurt. Maybe I should dial it down a little. I gave him a soft expression.
"I'm starting to think I'm getting over her." He said looking away. "I mean it has been a while. I should be over her by now, right?" He said, probably talking to himself this time. I have hi. A sympathetic look. I did feel bad for him, about the break up. Break ups are hard.
"I get it. But, why'd you kiss me?" I asked, tilting my head. He shook his head no.
"That's the thing, I don't know" he said, looking up at me. His eyes are beautiful. I could get lost in them, honestly.
I stopped and snapped out of my thoughts.
"Do you have feelings for me?" I asked, looking down at the floor.
He stayed quiet which scared me.
"I don't know" he finally spoke up. "If I do, I don't want them to get in the way. I wanna be friends for right now. I'm not ready to get hurt again" he said, on the verge of tears. I really didn't know what to say next. So, I moved closer and smashed my lips to his. It probably wasn't the best move, considering he just said he wanted to be friends but, oh well we'll just see what happens from here. I was about to pull away when I felt him kiss back. What did that mean? I felt Josh pull away.
"Alex" he started to say.
"I'm sorry" I said interrupting what he was gonna say. I got up and started to grab my things.
"Alex wait" Josh said standing up.
"What" I said back, almost yelling. "Sorry" I said, quieter this time.
"Let me explain" he said as he grabbed the things out of my hand and set them back down from where I picked them up.
"I just got out of a relationship and, if I do have feelings for you, I don't wanna let them get in the way. I wanna be friends just for now." He told me as he grabbed my hand and pulled me back onto the couch. He got up and grabbed a note book from off of the nearby table. He opened it and handed it to me.
"What is this?" I asked him, looking over the pages.
"Just read it" he told me as he sat back down. After I read it, I realized that he, in fact wasn't ready.
"I'm sorry, Josh" I told him. "I know how breakups feel" I explained to him. He took my hand in his.
"Please don't leave" he said looking me, in the eye. "You're like, all I have right now. I need you here. As a friend." He told me. I shook my head.
"Don't worry. I'm here" I assured him, giving him a soft smile.
