War

MERCY'S POV

I took a deep breath and took in Jake's heavenly scent. My head was resting on his bare chest. I was the queen of a lovely kingdom with a wonderful husband. There isn't much more I could ask for. Jake's fingers glided across my skin as he slided his fingertips across my arm. He stopped and started running his fingers through my loose wild hair. He kissed my forehead and closed his eyes. I kissed his chest and nuzzled his neck with my nose. He chuckled and opened his eyes. He gave me a kiss and we heard a sound in the distance. We got up and got dressed. As soon as we did there was a knock at the door. When I opened the door I saw a short plump man standing in front of me.

"My queen you have a visitor" He said quickly and rushed back the way he came. He was sweating and out of breath most likely from running. He seemed to be in a rush. Jake grabbed my hand. We walked quickly to the chambers where we held any meetings with visitors. When we got inside I slowed my pace. My eyes widened as they met with enchanting pale green ones. He had tanned skin and curly blonde hair.

"Hello your majesty" He bowed. I just stood frozen in place. Why is he here? He just walked forward and handed a scroll to me without breaking eye contact. He winked at me then walked past me bumping into my shoulder along the way. This can't be!!! He disappeared. I ran up to mine and Jake's room and plopped down on the couch after setting the scroll on a table. I buried my head in my hands. Someone sat next to me and I felt arms wrap around me. I snuggled into them.

"Who was that?" Jake asked.

"The head of the Rebels" I sighed. Jake grabbed my arms and made me look at him. He had a serious look on his face.

"What did he want?" I gestured for him to take a look at the scroll. He picked it up and looked at me.

"You didn't even look at it"

"Go ahead" I said looking at the golden scroll. "I don't need to I already know what it is" He opened it and looked at it. His eyes widened and he turned to me. I nodded. The scroll is a declaration for war. The war will start tomorrow at noon. Jake pulled me into an embrace.

"We don't have to" He whispered in my ear.

"We do Jake" I said looking him in the eye. He nodded and rest his head on my shoulder.

Time Skip

Tomorrow morning came too quick. Jake took my hand as we made our way through the lines of soldiers lined up in the big field that we would be fighting in. We made it to the front where the general was standing staring out into the other half of the field that was still empty. Waited there the rest of the morning then as soon as it became noon the ground started to shake.

JAKE'S POV

A stampede could be seen coming over the horizon. They stopped in rows like we did and the guy from earlier jumped of his horse and started walking forward. He was in front of everyone else so you could tell he was the one in charge. Mercy started walking forward like he did. I was about to stop her when the general put a hand on my shoulder. I looked up at him. He just nodded with a small smile. It make me wonder how many times she's had to do this. She knew exactly what to do. Be careful. I said to her in my mind. She looked at me. She smiled and gave me a small nod. I will she said before looking back in front of her. When they reached each other they talked for a second before both of them got out a sword. The exact moment their swords clashed both sides of the field charged forward and started fighting. I took out a sword and fought this guy about 2x bigger than me. He took out two and started swing at him. I looked at Mercy. The general took the guy that she was fighting earlier so now she was stuck with a guy that was even bigger than the one I was fighting. She jumped up and onto his shoulders. She took a knife and slit his throat. She hopped down and a woman who looked extremely mad at Mercy was charging towards her with her sword high above her head. Mercy took out two swords and blocked the woman's sword. The woman was crying. Mercy pushed her away with one sword and slashed her stomach open with the other. A knife came flying towards her cutting her cheek as it passed. She looked that direction and threw her sword at the culprit. Someone came running up behind her but the general killed him. She winced and grabbed her arm. She looked at me and I realized the guy I had been fighting had cut my arm with his sword. I swung my sword high and decapitated him. She smiled and went back to fighting. The war lasted a really long time. I slit the throat of the guy in front of me then stabbed the guy behind me. I turned around and felt something weird in my stomach. I looked and saw the guy with scroll from earlier standing before me. Everybody went silent and the fighting stopped. I looked down and saw that the guy had impaled me with his sword. Why am I not in pain? I looked over at Mercy and my eyes widened. She was bleeding. She smiled at me then started to fall in slow motion. I ran over to her and caught her right before she reached the ground. I fell to my knees and her close to me. She was really pale and I knew I couldn't do anything to help her. It's killing me inside knowing that half of me was literally dying in my arms and I can't doing anything to help her. I leaned down and kissed her. I felt her energy pass through me and she went cold. I looked at the lifeless body in my arms and sobbed. The love of my life and the one I shared a bond with just died in my arms.
