"My mother was the most caring and kind woman a person could ever meet but why would she lie to me all these years?" Korryn questioned herself. Now that her mother was dead she could not get any real answers. Now she had to go back home to Louisiana and face the people she thought were her family...."I don't wanna go." she thought, sitting at her desk in her dorm room crying and twisting her hair. She was going to go regardless because that was her mother but she knew she was going to be very resentful. It was the beginning of the first semester and she had to go through this....She questioned herself....She questioned God...She questioned damn near everybody she could think of. She now realized that she didn't have an aunt named Carey or an uncle named Joe because they were on her "dad's" side....or so she thought was her dad...."Now I guess he's my stepdad." She thought..."Well formerly.." she continued as she kept sobbing, grieving for her mother. She wondered what happened to her. She sat and paced all night....She knew nothing was wrong with her.....she knew that she didn't have any health problems because she ran every morning and ate healthy....so what could've happened to her? Korryn paced and sat and paced and sat until about 3am....after the final time she sat down, she decided to get up and pack her clothes. She was determined to get back home in a timely fashion and she was also determined to get answers....as soon as possible.
Around 3:45am, she got up and took the belongings she was taking with her and put it in her car and make a pot of coffee and poured it in her monogrammed Yeti cup that her mom had given her before she left home and got in her car and began to drive. Before she left, she stuck a note on her roommate's alarm clock telling her where she had gone and not to worry....not like her roommate would worry anyway...it's not like she cared.
4:00am
Korryn was on I-45 doing 110 mph when all of a sudden, she got a phone call. The number was private and she was scared to answer it. She let it ring and ring until it sent the caller to voicemail. "Finally!" She exclaimed. But right after, it rang again. She snatched her phone out of the cupholder and said, "Hello?" with the most nasty attitude ever. To her surprise, it was her mom's voice.....Korryn was in such disbelief that she just let voice keep saying hello...about a minute later, Korryn, with tears streaming down her face said, "Mama?....Mama is it really you?" "Yes it's me honey...now I can't be long because the Lord is calling me....I know it's strange that this is happening to you...especially since I've passed on...I just want you to hear me out..."Jane replied as Korryn got herself together...she wanted to hear what her mother had to say. "I know you're upset with me....I just want you to know that I'm sorry. I've always hoped that I would be long gone when this day came but since I'm just now leaving, I figured that I owed you an explanation. That was a fling that I had long time ago that always haunted me. I constantly asked the Lord for forgiveness and although he forgave me, I never forgave myself. Yes...James is your biological father but Korey is your real father. Don't go home and disrespect him. Yes he knows he's not your biological father but he treated you as his own and you owe him that respect. He loves you Korryn and so do I. Now I have to go....Just know that I'm fine and my death wasn't painful...and always remember....MOMMY LOVES YOU!" "I love you t...." the call ended before Korryn could get her entire sentence out. Korryn pulled to an exit and stopped at a Buc-cee's. She pulled to one of the back gas pumps, because they had so many, and began to sob. She wondered why.....She just wondered why her mom was taken from her and her sister so soon.....She just wanted her mother back.....That's it....
7:34am
Korryn pulled up to Baton Rouge General Regional Medical Center and ran up the stairs. She figured the stairs would be faster than the elevator. She called her sister Kasey and called to see where she was....before we got off the phone the other night, she managed to tell her to not release her mama's body before she got there. "Room 3453." Kasey replied. Korryn ran down the hall, despite being told not to run with tears streaming down her face. She made it to the door of Room 3453 and she opened it. There her mama was laying there. She looked asleep and peaceful. Korryn slowly walked towards the bed...ignoring her "father" and sister and all the other family members there and just sat in the chair next to the bed. She began to cry again.....screaming...."WHY GOD???? WHY DID YOU HAVE TO TAKE MY MAMA?!!" her dad tried to console her but she pushed him off. She got up and started to try and shake her mom awake but to no avail. Her dad and sister just began sobbing too. They both knew how close Korryn was to her mama. Kasey was more of a daddy's girl than anything...but probably because that was her real dad....Kasey got Korryn to stop shaking their mother and just hugged her. "It's gon be alright...It's gon be alright....Mama went to heaven...so it's gon be alright...we gon see her again..." Kasey kept saying in Korryn's ear trying to console her. Consoling Korryn was not an option...she did not want to be consoled...all she wanted was her mother back....that's it....
7:57am
Paull Davis, the funeral home they chose, came in to get Jane Bynum. They put the sheet over her face and wheeled her and the hospital bed out of the room and down the hall to the morgue. "I'm sorry for your loss..." Mr. Paull said..."She's in good hands now." he continued and after he got no reply....he just walked out of the room. Korryn, Kasey, and Korey just stood there and cried and peeked out the room to see how far they had gone down the hall with their Jane. But as they peeked out into the hall....Korryn noticed a man standing down the hall talking to Mr. Paull and he just saw him shaking his head and sobbing. He began screaming, "My Jane....my Jane.." Mr Paull said, "It's gon be alright.....She's in a better place Mr. James..." Korryn was taken aback and then mumbled...."James...could it be?..."
