This was Jane's favorite song in the whole wide world. Korryn knew she had to sing it at the funeral. Korryn could sing but could she sing at her own mother's funeral? "All of my good days.....out weigh my bad days..." Korryn began to sing.
She finally stepped out of room 3453 and began walking down the hall. She continued to think about James and her mother of course but she just kept thinking about the name she heard....JAMES....She began to sing again, "Thank You Lord.....Thank You Lord.." Kasey and Korey began calling for Korryn but she continued to walk and sing, getting louder and louder the further she got down the hall. She started running and the nurse told her to stop but she wasn't listening. She kept running until she got to the Emergency entrance and then she screamed, "Thank You Lord....I won't complain!"
She got in her car and just sat there for a moment. She let it sink in that her mother was really gone. She sat there in disbelief. She sat there for about 15 minutes until she saw Kasey and Korey come out of the hospital. She pulled her car around to where they were and gave them a more formal greeting. She parked her car and got out of it and hugged her dad so tight. At this moment, she didn't care whether he was he biological dad or not....all she knew was that was her dad...well at least at that moment in time...and that he was all she knew. She said, "Dad, I love you...no matter what." Korey looked strange because the "no matter what" part through him for a loop because he had never heard her say that before but he just simply responded and said, "I love you too sugarcube." Korey always called her sugarcube because he always said that she was such a sweet little girl. She hugged Kasey and told her thanks for the consolation even though she shrugged it off. She accepted her apology that she implied in her statement and Kasey and Korey went home. Korryn told them that she would meet them there.....but little did they know...she was going to Paull Davis to find out who this James guy he was talking to earlier really was....
She drove about 30 minutes before reaching Paull Davis Funeral Palor and as soon as she got there, she noticed a casket was out front unattended. She thought that was weird but walked right past it. She marched in and demanded to speak to Paull Davis himself. She didn't want to speak to his wife, she didn't want to speak to the secretary....she wanted the information straight from the horse's mouth. Finally, Mr. Paull walked past her and she stopped him in his tracks. He was talking to some lady but Korryn didn't care she interrupted their conversation without any thought. "I NEED to talk to you...it's very urgent." Korryn said with the most stern look on her face. Mr Paull excused himself from the lady he was talking to and said, "Right this way ma'am." He escorted her to his office and took his seat behind his desk. Although he remembered seeing her at the hospital, he wasn't given a name. Korryn was not for all the small talk, however, she just wanted to get straight down to business. "Remember the guy James you were talking to earlier?" she began. He cut her off right there. He looked...well stared and then his eyes grew very large and then he leaned back in his chair..."Korryn Jane Bynum!" he exclaimed. Korryn looked around to try and figure out why he screamed it and how he knew her and her full name. He got up out of his chair and tried to hug her but she backed away. "Your father and I are good friends and I knew I knew you from somewhere but when I came to the hospital, I was in business mode so I was not necessarily paying too close attention....I knew that was your mother I picked up but I didn't put two and two together... Wow...it's been a long time since I've seen you...well an up to date picture of you." Paull said. Korryn just stood there in awe and she was beginning to grow angry. She was beginning to grow angry because her mother was obviously sending pictures to the man that was supposedly her dad but didn't think it was necessary to tell her about him. "Yes...that's me...look sir..I'm not here for small talk. All I want to know is....where can I find this James." Korryn said sternly. "I'll take you to him right now!" Paull exclaimed. Korryn didn't know why he was so excited but she honestly didn't care. They both left out of his office and headed out the back door.
They drove across the river to Donaldsonville and pulled up to an extravagant house on 3-4 acres of land. When she got there, the first thought in her mind was, "Really? Mom kept me away from all of this?" Mr. Paull gets out while Korryn stayed in the car until she got the signal to get out. She saw Mr. Paull knock on the door but for a while no one came to it. Just when he was about to go and get in his truck, a woman answered the door in a maid uniform. Paull signaled for Korryn to get out of the car and so she did. Paull walked in and went straight down the hall where it seemed to be bedrooms...Korryn guessed he went to find James but she didn't follow. When she walked in, she walked behind the maid that led her straight to the kitchen. She sat down at the island on a bar stool and the maid asked her did she want anything to drink. She asked for a cranberry juice and received it in a flute glass. "How fancy is this nigga?" she thought. After receiving her drink, she got up from the island and walked around and went down the opposite hall that Paull walked down and began to see pictures of herself. She made it to this one picture that was on the wall and half smiled. It was picture she that she had seen before but didn't have her own copy of. It was a picture that was with her mom and her sitting in the park near their old apartment around the year of 2003. She got closer to it and examined it better and tears began to run down her face. As soon as a tear fell from her cheek onto her chest, she heard a strong manly voice, that wasn't Mr. Paull's say, "Hello Korryn...."
