The Viewing

QUIANTE

After spending a wonderful morning/afternoon with my baby, I decided to take her out to lunch before we had to go to the viewing tonight. I knew she didn't wanna go but I had to take her mind off things because if she focused on it, she would just break down and cry. I insisted on driving and I drove us to Zea's, which is one of her favorite restaurants. During the entire ride, I just held her hand close to my heart and kept my eyes on the road. At times I would glance over and see her glaring out the window and it would just break my heart. I hate seeing her like this but I was determined to raise her spirits before tonight. We got to Zea's and we just sat there in the car for a minute. She was still looking out the window and wouldn't look at me.

"Baby.....look at me please." I said and she looked at me, still not saying anything.

I grabbed her chin and slowly pulled her to me and kissed her lips softly. I felt wetness on my face and realized she was crying. I kissed her some more and it seemed like the more I kissed her, the more she cried. Finally, I just hugged her and she stopped crying. I guess she felt safe in my arms, the way she should feel.

"Korryn Jane.....it's going to be alright baby. I know you don't wanna hear it but it will be. You got me until death does us apart. I love you and always will. As long as we got each other, that's all we need." I said and she half smiled.

"You're right baby....you're all I need on this earth." She said.

I kissed her lips again and got out of the car. I came around to the other side and told her to close her eyes. She didn't know I had a surprise waiting for her inside. Even though it was last minute, I secretly called Halle and some of her other high school buddies to meet up with us so that could cheer her up. When we got in, the hostess led us to the table with our friends and when we got there, I motioned everyone to be quiet and I told Korryn to open her eyes.

"SURPRISE KORRYN!!!" They all said and she screamed.

"OMG. Halle, Nicole, Nia, Jessica, Kyran, John.....how are y'all??? I missed you all so much!!" She said and she started crying but I knew they were tears of joy.

I grabbed her and wiped her tears. They all said AWWEEEEE.

"Girlllll look at the rock on Korryn's left finger....FANCYYYYY!!" Nia said.

"Girl yessss. My best friend is getting married. We all already knew Quiante and Korryn was gon be together forever!!" Halle said.

"Haaaa. Y'all shut up but yesss. I's getting married y'all." She said as she flashed her left hand.

I thought that was the cutest thing. She was standing in front of me and put my hands on her hips and she turned her head up and kissed my lips and they all went wild!

"Y'all shut up." Korryn and I said in unison.

"There they go, already saying the same things. Don't worry, it won't be that way forever." John said.

"Maneee. Korryn and I gon always be on the same page. Ain't that right baby?" I said

"Yeahhh baby!" She said and interlocked her hand in mine.

We ate lunch with our friends and we parted ways. They all assured Korryn they would be there tonight for the viewing for support. Korryn couldn't stop talking all the way home. She was so happy she saw them that she just didn't know what to say.

"Baby....thank you....so much. You always know how to cheer me up." She said and kissed my cheek.

I flashed my signature koolaid smile and interlocked her hand in mine and kissed it. She loved when I did that. We just drove home and sang along to the radio together until we got there for the rest of the drive.
