Chapter 47

~~~Third persons view~~~

Gareth is taunting Bob after his group eats Bob's left leg, and expresses his anger over Ava by saying "short pregnant queen bitch" killing his mother during the Terminus attack. He points out his group saw her and Daryl "the archer", drive away.

Gareth vows to eat Rick and his group later, but says Bob "would do just fine". Bob begins to cry, but then hysterically laughs and shows the group that he was previously bitten by a walker, telling them they are eating "tainted meat". Panicking, all those who had eaten his leg begin to spit out what is in their mouths. Martin offers to kill Bob, but Gareth refuses stating they cooked him but Albert freaks out stating they're gonna die, as Bob laughs hysterically believing they will now turn. Gareth angrily knocks Bob out after unsuccessfully telling him to shut up.

At the church, Sasha confronts Father Gabriel over the disappearance of several group members. Rick then asks what he did that he is so ashamed of. Gabriel admits that when the outbreak occurred, he locked his entire congregation outside the church, leaving them to be eaten by walkers they'd attracted. Ava hearing this was disgusted in him.

When Ava goes outside to get some fresh air discovers Bob lying outside the church unconscious, and quickly calls for the other members to come help her. Once inside, Bob warns the group about Gareth and repeats what Gareth told him about Daryl and Ava, before showing everyone his bite mark. Abraham refuses to risk Eugene's life and begins to argue with Rick that they have to leave for Washington as soon as possible, but Glenn convinces him to stay another 12 hours by promising to join his mission along with his wife Maggie and Tara.

Before Sasha leaves to join Rick and the others retaliating against the Hunters, she tells her brother, Tyreese to stab Bob once he stops breathing, to prevent reanimation.

At night, Rick and part of the group leave to search for Gareth and his group; however, the Hunters have been hiding outside the church and break in. As the Hunters make their way through the church, Rick's group returns and Rick kills Albert and Mike, with his pistol, then shoots two of Gareth's fingers off, forcing them to surrender. Martin, however, isn't as willing to surrender until Ava aims Abraham's M16 rifle in his face. Gareth begs for mercy, saying they will leave and never bother Rick and his group again. Rick says that even if that is true, Gareth's group will still kill and eat other people they encounter. Rick reminds him of his earlier promise to kill him with a machete. Rick, Sasha, Michonne and Abraham slaughter Gareth, Martin, Theresa and Greg respectively as Glenn, Maggie, Tara, and Tyreese watch, disturbed. Michonne notices that by sheer luck, Theresa was carrying her sword. She retrieves it. Gabriel is also disturbed by the brutality inside his church, "the Lord's house", but Maggie retorts that it is "just four walls and a roof."

Ava's P. O. V

That night I had fallen asleep rather quickly, the last thought before I went into a dreamless sleep was Daryl, Hunter and Crystal were not too far from me cutely cuddled up together. The following morning, when I had woken up, I hear everyone says their goodbyes to Bob, so I decide to go in before Rick "hey Bob,how ya holdin up?" I say which he lightly smiles back at me, "I've been better Ava, I'm glad Gareth never managed to get to you after what he told me I was worried about you and your unborn child" "you just said he called 'a short pregnant queen bitch' which I didn't mind I've been called worse" I lightly chuckle he shook his head "before I die I have to tell you what else he said" I rise one of my thin eyebrows at him "what?" I ask "he and his group were gonna kidnap you Ava, then as he put it 'let his group pals have their fun' with you before they would slowly kill you by cutting limb by limb off you" he said making me shiver with slight fear, "lucky I went out those church doors a few minutes before you did, cause I honestly doubt you would be here now, so I'm happy it's me laying here and not you" I couldn't help but let tears slide down my cheeks and go to hug him "thank you then for unknown-ly saving mine and Venus's life" I say as I unwrap my arms from him he just sends me a smile, I then walk out and let Rick go in.

When Rick comes back out of the room where Bob is, Rick tells me Bob thanked him for taking him into the prison and giving him a home. He then dies in Sasha's arms, and Tyreese stabs him in the head to spare his sister's emotions.

We burry Bob outside the church alongside Gabriel's parishioners. Then I see Abraham give Rick a map with the specific route they're taking to Washington. Abraham, Eugene, Rosita, Glenn, Maggie, and Tara then drive off in the repaired bus but not before I hug my best friend Maggie "take care Mags be safe ok?" I tell her trying my hardest to hold my tears back "you to Ava, promise me you will take it easy all this running and stuff is no good for little miss Venus here" she says while her small hand lands on my bump which has gone quite larger, I nodded then sobbed out a "ok, I'll see ya soon" I then walked over and hugged Glenn "look after our Maggie ok?" I say he nods his head as I pull away from our hug "also thank you for looking after Hunter, when we got separated, I appreciate it" I thank him as I hug him one more time. Rick then reads a message from Abraham on the map, imploring him and us to come to Washington. Later I sit with Crystal and Hunter on the church steps to see Rick and Tyreese bury The Hunters.

Later on that night, Gabriel talks to Michonne, and me expressing his discomfort over the horror he has seen recently, I just simply reply with the cold hard truth "Gabriel, what ya saw was nothing compared to other people out there, these days people are more dangerous then those things out there, what they did saved all of our lives" then Michonne tell me she hears a noise in the bushes and is going to go investigate "want me to" she cut me off "no stay here, go back inside" I buffed but agreed "be careful Michonne" I say she nods then makes her way toward the sound as I go back inside.

Michonne starts to walk towards the noise after Ava had gone back inside the church, only to find Daryl walking out of the trees she laughs lightly and asks where Carol is. In response, he looks towards the bushes and says, "Come on out".
