I was having a hard time walking and was walking up the steps. I missed a step and braced for impact. When I did not hit the floor, I opened my eyes. Elijah held me by the waist and was supporting me.

"Heh, thanks. I thought I would be fine to walk," I said quietly, only slightly embarrassed.

"It is quite all right. Don't worry," Elijah said with a soft chuckle as he help me reach the front door.

We reached the door and I opened it.

"Do I need to be--" Elijah was about to ask but I cut him off.

"No. I killed and fed on the original owner. No need to be invited in," I answered with a shake of my head.

He nods and leads me inside. Elijah moved me into the family room and set me down on the couch. I sat down and took off my pumps, setting them aside. I set my feet onto the coffee table.

"I'll be back," Elijah said, leaving the room, probably getting me a blood bag.

"They're in the fridge!" I called out to Elijah who responded with an okay.

I relaxed for a moment until I heard thuds coming from the stairs. I did not need my unnatural hearing to hear the footsteps.

"Alexandria, how was it?" Basil asks as he walks into the room.

I turned my head to face him and horror washed upon his face.

"What the bloody hell happened? Why are you drenched in blood?" Basil bombarded with questions as he rushed over to my side.

"Some werewolf assholes thought it would be fun to inject Damon and I with vervain and torture us," I responded tiredly, brushing off his concern.

Basil shook his head, "That stupid Elijah dragged you into this mess."

"I was the one who actually saved her," Elijah pointed out, walking into the room with a mug of warm blood.

He hands it to me and I nod my head, "Thanks. Plus, Basil, I was already dragged into this werewolf drama when they decided to kill Rose-Marie."

Now, we were still on the topic of Rose-Marie.

"That was a shame. I respected her loyalty," Elijah mused, raising an eyebrow.

"She is more than loyal," I said, frowning slightly.

Basil nodded his head and agreed, "Indeed." He had a sorrowful look on his face as the memory of Rose-Marie popped into his head.

"Did you...?" Elijah asked, trailing off as he eyed Basil.

Basil rolled his eyes, "Yes, I had feelings for her. I am allowed to love someone other than your sister. I know she has loved other men besides me."

"Who else have you loved?" Elijah inquired curiously, cocking an eyebrow at Basil.

"What does it matter?" Basil asked, sighing afterwards.

Elijah answered boldly, "Because you were my best friend, all that time ago. We have just come into contact again and I want to know what I missed."

Basil chuckled with a roll of his blue eyes, "Fine, fine. In total I have loved four women. The first girl I fell in love with after Rebekah was a human in Greece. Her name was Hatria. She was a wealthy woman but was kind. She did not act higher than others. We loved one another but when I told her I was a vampire, she did not speak to me at first. Then, she came back to me and I turned her. Not long after, she was staked by a hunter who I killed in rage."
