As the door opened, two shady figures entered the room. I made them out to be Elena and Damon with my supernatural eyesight. Elena waves the torch light she was holding to Mary's dead body.

"Mary," Damon states as he gazes upon the grey corpse.

Kol turned on the lamp and smirked, "Quite contrary."

"Funny seeing you here," Damon says with a bit of a scowl.

"Where's Jeremy?" Kol asks with a pout. "He and I are good mates, right, Exandria?"

I nod my head and say, "I would even say you are best buds"

Elena steps forward, "He is anywhere but here." Her poor confidence made me snort.

"What did you do to Mary?" Damon asks, already putting the blame on us.

I was about to speak before Kol stood and walked over to her body, "Shame about Mary. She used to be a blast. Don't quite know what happened. I fear all the time she spent with my family might have ruined her. She was a bit of an Original groupie."

Elena raises an eyebrow and asks, "And were you her favorite?"

"You mean, did I turn her? I think I did. But no, wait, maybe it was Rebekah. There was also a Klaus period. And let's not forget the Elijah affair," Kol's expression changes. "I spoke to my brother, I know you're trying to find out who you descended from. Now you never will. So, where did we leave off?"

Kol attacks Damon, hitting him in the leg with his baseball bat. Damon falls to the ground as Kol continuously beats him.

"Elena, get out of here!" Damon groans to the girl he loves.

She attempts to run away but Kol blocks her path, "According to my brother, you're off limits. Please don't test me."

I held Damon down, pushing my foot onto his throat. I watched Kol and Elena with cautious eyes, my attention not fully on Damon. He had a hard time breathing but managed to grab one of Mary's collective items, one of wood.

Kol had thrown Elena to the ground with a thud. This triggered Damon into driving the wood into my calf, causing me cry out and pull away.

Damon got up and rushed over to Kol, "Don't touch her."

As Damon ran, I ripped out the wooden object.

Kol threw Damon off with ease, saying, "Oh dear, I've hit a nerve. Heh heh. Relax, darling, I just want us to be even. You snapped my neck, you killed my brother, and then you humiliated me."

When Kol spoke, I went to Elena and held her against the wall, beside Mary's body. Kol began to hit Damon repeatedly with the bat, finding satisfaction.

"Elena, don't be so flustered," I hiss as she squirms under my grip. "This would be so much easier if you didn't hate Nikki."

"Klaus? I don't see how you don't hate him," Elena says under my grasp.

I chuckled softly, "I don't see how you don't hate Damon."

Elena pauses for a moment, "Damon has done terrible things but they are not comparable to Klaus's."

"Just wait, Elena. Klaus is over a thousand years old. I wonder what crimes Damon would commit in that time," I said thoughtfully, smirking at Elena.

"Alex, from what I know, Klaus has hurt you a lot. You shouldn't have to put up with that," Elena said softly, her innocent, brown eyes pouring into my damaged eyes.

I raised my eyebrows at her and shrugged, "Then I guess you don't know much, Elena Gilbert."

Pulling away from Elena, I hear Kol say, "There, now we're even."
