"Yeah, it's not going to happen. I have to be here. You wouldn't believe what I'm witnessing right now," the sound of James's voice wakes me up.
"I came into the kitchen, looking where she went last night and found her sleeping at the table." I hear him chuckle after a pause.
"Yeah, you get it. Just let Autumn, I mean Candella know that I can't make it in today."
"Alright, talk to you then."
I lift my head up, feeling a pang of pain on my ear. Mental note: Don't sleep on tables, causes ear aches.
How could I fall asleep at the table? Last night, I remember reading at the here, but I nothing after that. I suppose that I could have fallen asleep without even remembering it, I mean I have done it before. I just thought that I wouldn't be able to fall asleep after that hellish dream. Oh, that dream. I really hope he doesn't ask about it, not right now at least.
I turn my head to look at James in the living room, but holy shit, this neck pain isn't going to go away for a while, I can tell you that much.
I really regret falling asleep here. I mean, the floor would have been more comfortable.
"Darling, I had no idea you slept out here. You scared me half to death when you weren't in bed this morning. I didn't think you could be up, I mean it's only seven and you and I both know that you aren't very much of a morning person."
I want to laugh, but my ear and neck hurt too much.
"Sorry, I just couldn't sleep last night," I put my hand to my neck like as if it will help. I give him my best smile that I can.
He tosses his phone on the couch. "Are you okay?"
I shrug, "Yeah, I'll be fine. Plus, this was my own damn fault for falling asleep on the table, anyway.
"No, no, I know that you had a nightmare last night, are you okay? You never let me get a word in."
I shake my head, "No, I'm not."
He pulls a chair out and pulls it up beside me. "Do you want to talk about it?" he takes my hand in his.
I shake my head.
He pats my thigh, "Okay, but if you ever do, let me know because I'll listen."
I smile. "Thank you, James."
He smiles, standing up and kissing the top of my head. "Anything for you."
I stand up and surprisingly enough my back doesn't hurt, but if you want to talk about my tail bone, well that's another story.
"Now, I wasn't planning on you being awake this early, but do you want to go out for breakfast? Or do you want me to cook here?"
I shrug, "It doesn't matter to me."
He smiles, "We'll stay here, you look sore," he gives me a reassuring smile.
Having James cook for me makes me feel better. It's been weeks since he's cooked for me. It's sort of of energizing.
As you might have guessed, James's cooking is delicious and this meal is no different and I made sure he knew it too.
"Oh, Vena, stop praising me," he jokes.
I smile at him as I scoop another bite of hash browns into my mouth.
I smile to myself with an idea forming in my head. I finish my bite and smile at him. "Hey, want to see something cool?" I ask.
His eyes light up, "When do I not?"
I feel a evil smile appear on my face. "Okay, one second," I take a bite of my pancakes and chew a bit. "Aaaah," I say as I open my mouth full of chewed up food.
