James's POV
I stare at Jason and Kamer, my eyes shifting back and forth between the two of them. "How could you possibly?" I question them.
Kamer has been gone for a total estimation of fifteen minutes. That's it. How could have they possibly came up with a plan in such little time? I've been trying to figure out a way out of here since the moment I was brought in.
"Just stop talking and listen. I may know a way to get your friend back, but you're not going to like it," Jason says, warning me.
By the looks of his weary expression, I don't know what I'm supposed to expect from him. However, at this point I'm willing to try anything. I refuse to let Grant or anyone else I care about get hurt because I'm involved in something that I shouldn't be.
"As Arturo mentioned, if you want Grant, you must come and get him. I assumed all along that they would eventually attack, but this? This almost seems like the most obvious way to lure you in."
I cautiously look at him, "So, you want me to go in there?"
Jason shakes his head, "No, not exactly. They'd take the cash and kill you, or they'd use you as bait to Autumn and get her to give them even more money. To be quite honest, we don't know what angle they are trying to play. It's either the money or your brain, or perhaps both."
"So, what's the plan than?" I question him again, gradually getting more impatient.
"No one goes anywhere until we fully understand their demands, otherwise it's just stupid."
Jason nods at Kamer, "Exactly, but if what they want is you and only you, then that is what they will get."
My eyes widen at the two of them. "What?! I thought you just said that I wouldn't have to surrender to them."
"I said not exactly. It's not like I'm not going to get you out of there, that's the whole point of this. We will get you and your friend out of there, but we need to do it quickly before they kill him."
"And what if they just kill me the moment they get to money? What then, huh?" I ask with annoyance.
Jason sighs and leans back in his chair. "Listen, we don't know what they want and we won't know until we get back into contact with Arturo." He pauses and looks at the bedroom door and then back at me. "You don't know this, but I can be pretty convincing. Maybe if I go down there, I can come up with some sort of compromise," he hushes his voice as he tells us, but Kamer is already interjecting.
Kamer shakes his head. "No, that's a fucking horrible idea. You do that and they'll take you too."
Jason stares at Kamer for a moment in a conflicting manner. There's something spread over Jason's face, but I can't put my finger on it. Reluctance? No, that wouldn't make any sense.
"Fine, then we get their demands and if it's you that they want than you're going in for bait or Grant dies." Jason explains with a level of bluntness that makes me sick to my stomach.
"And what then? You all plan on just storming their headquarters? Oh, yeah. That definitely will keep both Grant and I alive. Great plan."
Jason looks at me, clearly unamused by my assumptions. "No, they'll demand that there are no threats or they'll kill you, that's just the way it is"
My eyes widen, worry getting worse as they continue talking. "Jesus fuck, just bloody well tell me the whole plan instead of giving me these pieces of information," I exclaim, irritation rising through.
Jason nods and sits up, "Fine, here it is: We get their demands, then we send you in, alone. There can't be any sigh of anyone following you, or they'll kill your friend. We must carefully carry out each of their directions. You won't bring any weapons, otherwise it'll only make them angry and that's the last thing we need. When you get in there, Kamer and I will go undercover—"
