Thirty Five

Shawn's POV

From: Noah

She's home if you guys want to come back and say hi.

To: Noah

On our way.

We're almost at Brinley's mom and uncles house where Brinley will be staying for a while.

Cam, Nash and I had fun but I'm never gonna be able to completely take my mind off this.

I wish we could go back to how things were on the tour. When we both loved each other.

We pulled into the driveway, and walked inside.

I saw Brinley sitting with the twins on the couch, and she looked very lively. You couldn't tell she just had an accident by looking at her, except for the stitches in her head.

"Sup bro" Ethan stood up and gave me a bro hug.

I walked over to Brinley and sat beside her.

"How're you feeling?" I asked her. She looked a little uncomfortable since in her head she doesn't know me, but tried to warm up to me.

"A lot better. My head hurts a bit, but I'm good."

I nodded my head with a smile. "That's fantastic."

Brinley looked up to everyone else standing in the room, and kindly said "could Shawn and I have a second?"

Everyone did as they were told and walked out.

"Shawn.. I'm sorry that I don't remember you. Ethan and Grayson told me how special you were to me, and I just wish I could remember everything we've been through together. But I can't force myself into loving someone now that I lost part of my memory."

I nodded and grabbed onto her hands. "I would never expect you to do that.. You don't remember me, what kind of relationship would it be if you don't actually love me?"

The whole time I was talking, she was looking down at my hands holding hers, a little uncomfortable and confused.

"Oh, sorry. Just a habit." I muttered.

She nodded understandingly. "It's okay. But I'm willing to try and be friends again and get to know you if you want."

I thought about it. Honestly, it would hurt to just be friends with her after everything we've been through as a couple. But that's better than nothing, I need her in my life. She's the love of my life and my best friend in the whole entire world. 

"I'd like that." I said with a forced smile on my face.

She reached over and gave me a quick hug.

We were all sitting around at Julie and Jessie's house, watching movies and having a good time.

I felt my phone buzz in my pocket, and pulled it out to see Andrew's contact on the screen.

I excused myself and walked into the kitchen where nobody else was.

"Hello?"

"Shawn! Where are you? You said you'd be back!"

"Andrew.. Brinley lost part of her memory and can't remember me. I need to do everything I can to try and help her remember as best she can."

"You know I'd let you stay if it were an option, but the producer said he's only gonna let you use the studio to record your new album for the next four weeks! You still have to write some of the songs for it, and then finish recording all of them. There isn't any time."

I felt my heart stop. I need to record this album, but I need to be here for Brinley as well.

I told Andrew I'd call him back, and shouted for Julie to come into the kitchen for a second.

"Yes Shawn?" She said as she walked in.

"I need to be back in Toronto to finish writing and then record my album, but I also want to be here for Brinley. What do I do?"

She frowned a bit, and put a hand on my shoulder.

"I hate to say this, but your album is more important than Brinley right now-"

I interrupted her. "Nothing's more important than Brinley."

She nodded her head understandingly.

"I know bud, but you being here isn't gonna help her remember you. You can't rebuild a friendship just like that. It will take time. So you might as well go do your thing now, and then when you get back, you can try your best to build some sort of friendship with her."

I let a few tears fall down my cheeks, which were quickly wiped away by Julie.

"You're right" I whispered, and felt her wrap me in her arms.

"We'll miss you Shawn."
