- The Next Day -

Zuri's P.O.V

Listening to Aasiyah as her cries filled her nursery I sighed to myself after being up most of the night from her being fussy.

She had completely drained me out from the breast feeding to the dozens of diapers being changed.

I needed to be alone with my daughter so I sent B home wanting to be at peace an' not having to wonder if he was sneaking in my bedroom like he always do.

Leaving the hospital yesterday I gave Samantha both my address an' phone number whereas Avery could contact me an' show up here so we could both discuss us co - parenting.

Getting both Aasiyah an' I up an ready for the morning, I quickly fed her then placed her down for a nap before being able to make a little breakfast for me.

Eating the last of my pancakes I sighed out loud as a loud banging against my front door startled me. Not wanting to just rush an' open the door not knowing who was on the other side I quickly looked through the peephole rolling my eyes a bit annoyed.

"What the hell is your problem?" I looked him up an' down as the smell of liquor drained through his pores. "Avery, are you drunk?"

He stumbled on inside remaining silent while making it into my living room an' onto the couch.

"This a nice place." His deep voice slurred out. "No wonder you moved."

I made my way over to him realizing something was wrong. Avery never drank to the point where he could barely walk or talk.

"Bab -- I mean, Avery are you okay?" He was hiding something an' chose to drink so his problems would all go away, but I hope he realized that what he was doing would not just hurt himself but the others that love him.

"I'm fine." He focused on me while licking his lips. "I missed you."

I could feel my cheeks heat up an' the butterflies once again returned.

"I missed you too." I admitted.

I looked his way trying to ready him - What was really going on in this man's life?

"What happened to us?" He questioned. "Why'd you say all the shit you did? - Didn't you love me?"

"I did - I do." I admitted. "Look we can't talk now, why don't you just sober on up on the cou--"

Assiyah's cried stopped me from continuing.

Making my way into her nursery room I smiled from ear to ear while taking a hold of her, gently rocking her back an' forth.

"She okay?"

I turned around watching as Avery made it into her room.

"She's just a little hungry." I assured him. "She doesn't normally cry, just when she's hungry or pooped."

I felt his presence behind me looking over us both causing me to tense up a bit. Avery an' I had so much to talk about in so little time but I knew it was important for us both to clear the air.

He was going through a lot an' so was I but, I just couldn't be with him.

"So why you kept this away from me?" His tone became more serious. "Lying saying you lost her."
