Avery's P.O.V

Finally after a week of being back in the A, I was able to chill at my own house.

Everything felt like it was finally coming together.

Except for Mama still being in the hospital.

I was happy over the fact that I was able to take care of her again but having to deal with her sickness an' five strokes for so many years made me lose focus on me 100% of the time.

Talking to people was unusual for me especially about my Mama an' her situation because I knew one day she'd get better - She was always a strong woman.

That day Zuri asked me why I never moved from Atlanta to Miami I wanted to tell her the truth but didn't know how to.

It was hard talking about the life I lived to anyone.

After taking a quick shower I threw on a pair of grey sweats, a white T an' a pair of my grey J's. Today I was spending the day with my Mama instead of going to the trap.

Pulling up into the hospital's parking lot chills instantly filled my body.

I never liked this place since I watched my grandmother die laying in those beds right in front of my eyes.

Making my way inside an towards the front desk I sighed out loud.

"I'm here to see my Mama - Is she up?"

Everyone already knew me in here since I'm always up in the place - Which I never liked.

I watched as a small smile formed against nurse Clarke's lips. "Well hello to you too Avery - She's been waiting on you all day."

I returned the smile. "Iight."

I never knew nurses could be hoes but damn, nurse Clarke made that shit all clear to me.

Finally making my way towards my Mama's room I peeked inside before making my way in. I never liked interrupting her when she would sleep.

Walking inside I noticed all the machines she had been attached to, all the IV's an' all the medicine beside her bedside.

This woman didn't look like my Mama - She was no longer the happy, energetic woman I once knew. She had gotten so small an' her once caramel skin was now pale.

I watched as she turned her head towards me slowly as a small smile formed against her lips. "Hey baby."

I made my way towards her, wrapping my arms around her body.

"How you doing?"

"I'm alive, breathing bab--" She continued smiling but was force to stop by her uncontrollable coughing.

"You good Mama?" My face was now filled with concern - I never like when she coughed, it was always a harsh, painful sound.

"I'm good, don't you worry about me." She sent a smile my way. "I should be the least of your worries, but all I wanna know is, is who's the young lady that had my boy away from me for so long?"

I lightly chuckled while taking a seat beside her bed.

"What makes you think a female kept me away from you?
