Chapter Twenty - Catching Up.

- The Next Day -

Avery's P.O.V

Rushing into the emergency room as Jordan an I had finally made it over to the hospital my Mama was staying at in Miami, I quickly tried getting the information on her condition.

It's been six months since I stepped foot back over here an I hadn't missed it one bit.

"I'm here to see Samantha Knowles - I'm her son."

My breathing sped up a bit as I felt chills take over my body.

"Ms. Knowles." The young woman called out to me while smiling. "Well she's asleep right now but I'm sure she'll be happy to see you. She's been asking for you since we brought her in."

My smile grew from ear to ear as she spoke.

"She's in room 105 - That'll be the third floor."

"Thank you." I walked away making my way on over to the elevator. "You gone stay?"

"Yeah." Jordan assured me. "I told you I'd be here for you nigga."

We both looked at one another for a quick second while dapping.

"Thanks man." As I pressed the number three allowing the elevator to take us both up I sent up a quick prayer.

Praying that my Mama forgave me an' that she hadn't grew hate in her heart for me abandoning her.

As the elevator stopped an' I began making my way towards her room I could feel my palms sweat.

"I'mma wait out here while you handle that shit." J spoke while walking away.

"Iight." We both gave one another a little head not while going our separate ways.

As I made it towards her room I looked up feeling a bit nervous.

"Fuck." I cursed beneath my breath before slowly opening the door.

Watching her as she laid there with her eyes close I walked up to her placing a soft kiss against her forehead.

She then slowly opened her eyes, repeatedly blinking.

"Mama?" I choked out feeling a lump in my throat.

"Baby?" I could already see the tears in her eyes. "Is it really you?"

She burst out into tears causing my eyes to fill up with water while wiping her pale cheeks.

"Baby I knew you'd come back." Her weak voice spoke. "All I've been doing was praying for you."

A tear had finally escaped.

"I'm so sorry." I apologized while placing my head against her chest. "I'm just so afraid right now - I don't wanna lose you."

Even more tears escaped as I continued to talk.

"Baby I'm here now ain't I? There's no need to run away from your pain." She focused on me while wiping away my tears. "I want you to always remember that I love you, I know a lot has happened but although I'm sick I'm still always gonna be here for you."
