If you only believe equal rights when it sounds pretty
and aren't willing to stand up for the black boy being whispered about in the coffee house
or are willing to turn a blind eye
when your friends talk about women like objects
then I'm not fighting for you.
If you think religion, gender, sexuality, or mental illness is a choice,
then I'm not fighting for you.
If you feel okay
talking about someone behind their back
or making someone feel inferior
then I'm not fighting for you.
If you think that women's rights aren't important
that movements for equal treatment deserve to me made fun of
or that in today's society there is no such thing as prejudice
then I'm not fighting for you.
If you are willing to make someone feel uncomfortable
for your gain
then I am not fighting for you.
I'm fighting for men to not have to teach their daughters to fear other men.
I'm fighting for Muslims to feel safe
and proud of their religion
like Christians do.
I'm fighting because women are strong
skin color doesn't matter
lesbians are more then sex objects
the Earth matters
men aren't all the same
mental illness is real
people deserve help
and where you are a citizen
doesn't change your value.
I'm here to fight for people who can't.
I'm here to speak for basic treatment of all people.
And if you are notThen I'm here to fight against you.
People make me upset. Sorry if pieces like this aren't your style but you have no idea how sad it makes me to hear the way black male youth talk to police to feel safe or to here little girls already insecure of their body. A teenage white boy and a black girl you're calling a slut are both equal in value. And I will not put down either to reach that point. No anti white comments. No anti men comments. And if you wish, share this piece. Or write your own response.
