Because I owe you the sun
the stars and the moon
but I don't owe you my words.
Take the blood from my veins
and the shirt from my straightened back
and I'll keep the key to my lips
against what way the wind blows.
You can have my every muscle
but I'll offer no instruction manual
on how to better use me as you please.
You know more than enough.
I will give you all that I have
and all that I am
but never again
will you witness
the way I can coax flowers to grow.
I owe you all that you demand
and because of it
I will no longer allow you
to witness my thoughts.
