A Beautiful Disaster

Chapter 20

"That was.. Unexpected", she said. "I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking." She smiled. "It's okay", she said as she placed her lips back on mine.

It was a feeling that is so hard to describe. It's like a bomb of butterflies that just exploded in my stomach. I forgot about this feeling. I forgot a person could be this in love with another person.

I pulled away, my eyes still closed, wanting to let the moment sink in.

"Woah", I said as I opened my eyes. "I know", she said smiling.

"I uh, I really have to go. But I'll see you tonight", she said still smiling. I nodded, still blushing. She pulled me in for a hug. One I haven't had for so long.

Her scent filled my nose, and I quickly burried my face in her neck, not planning to let go anytime soon.

"I missed you", I whispered. "Me too Dems", she said as she tightened her grip on me.

As soon as we let go, we just looked at each other. Her thumb was softly rubbing my face as she planted a soft kiss on my forehead. "Okay I really need to go now", she said giggling. "Right. Go", I said smiling.

She blew me a kiss and disappeared into the crowd.

I got in my car and couldn't stop smiling.

As I drove to my place, all I could think about was Rae and what just happened. I had never been this happy. It meant she had forgiven me for what had happened a few months back. It meant she was ready to give us another chance. And I couldn't wish for anything more.

I pulled up in the driveway and grabbed my bags from the trunk.

I opened my front door and threw my bags inside. "Home", I said to myself.

"Hey!", I heard someone yell. I walked into the living room, finding Marissa sitting on the couch. "Hey! What are you doing here?", I asked. "I was filling up your food supply. Like you asked me?", she said. "Yeah right", I said.

"What's up? It's like you're not even here", she said. I sighed and sat beside her. "Something incredible happened", I said. "Spill it!" I smiled.

"I went to see Rae. We went for a coffee and when we were about to leave.. I uh, I kissed her", I said. "For real?!", she said in disbelieve. "For real! She even kissed me back!"

She jumped on me. "Finally!", she said smiling. "I thought you wanted me to forget about her", I said laughing. "Yes, but I knew you wouldn't. I didn't know this would happen so soon!"

"We're going out tonight", I said softly as I got back up. "Oh my god!", she said. "Where are you guys going?"
"I told her it would be a romantic dinner but I have no idea where to go", I said.

"Set something up in the yard. You don't necessarily need to go outside. Besides, if things get uh, you know, a bit intimate.. there's a couch right here, and a bed right above you", she said.

I laughed.

"That won't happen. It's our first date in like forever. I think we'll just take things slow", I said. "But I got an idea. Could you get me some stuff from the store?", I asked. She nodded. "Of course!" I wrote the things I needed down on a piece of paper.

"Thanks Maris. You're the best!", I said as I hugged her.

"I know", she said as she walked out.

I smiled and walked into the yard.

I moved a few things and the picture started forming in my head.

"This will be awesome", I said to myself.
