A Beautiful Disaster

Chapter 40

I was waiting for Demi to get here. I got here earlier than expected. But it gave me some time to think about what I was going to say. I mean, I had kissed her not even 3 days ago.

I let out a deep sigh when I saw her approaching me. "Hey", I said as I stood up. "Hey!", she said smiling. She stretched out her arms and pulled me in for a hug. I smiled back at her.

We pulled away and sat down.

"So.. How have you been?", I asked breaking the silence. "Great. I've been feeling really good. What about you?" "I'm glad. I've been good. Like always", I said. She smiled.

"Look, something has been bothering me since the last time I saw you. I really want to talk about it", I said. "You mean the kiss?" I nodded. "Don't worry. I didn't get my hopes up. I already realised it was a mistake."

I sighed.

"It's not that. At first I didn't mean to kiss you. But now I think about it, and I'm glad I did. I miss you. And I hope you miss me too.."

She reached for my hands from across the table and nodded. "I miss you a lot", she said.

A small smiled appeared on my face.

"I don't wanna rush into things but, maybe we could start over you know? When you get out.", I said. She nodded. "I'd like that." I smiled. "Good."

We continued talking for a little while until it was time to go.

I pecked her cheek.

"See you on friday", I said. She smiled. "See you then." She walked away and waved one last time before she was out of my sight.

I walked back to the front desk and picked up my things.

"See you later!", I said as I walked out the building.

I got in my car and headed home. On the way I picked up some food, since it was almost 7 pm already.

I walked inside and put my stuff on the kitchen table. I put the food on the counter and took of my coat.

My dog came running up to me. He jumped up my legs and barked. "Hey you!", I said as I got on his level. I hugged him and played with him for a minute.

I got back up and grabbed my food from the counter. I had picked up some chinese food.

I sat down on the couch and turned on the tv. Bailey jumped on the couch and kept sniffing my food. "No Bailey. That's bad for little dogs like you", I said.

I flicked through the channels as I took a bite of my noodles.

As I wanted to take another bite, the phone rang. I sighed and got up.

"Hello?", I answered. "Hi, Rae?", a male voice said. "Yeah, can I help you?" "Jackson speaking. I'm the prison director. I'm calling to let you know that Miss Lovato will be released in 2 weeks due to overcrowding. We believe she's not a threat to the community." My eyes widened.

"What? 2 weeks?", I asked. "Exactly." Thanks for the call." "You're welcome. Enjoy your evening", he said. I put down the phone and shook my head.

"I need to get the house ready", I said to myself. Our room wasn't what it used to be. I cleaned out her stuff and stored it on the attic.
I decorated the house in a completely different way.

I sighed and sat back down on the couch. "First some food and relaxing."

I took a bite of my noodles as I leaned my head back.

She's finally going to be home with me again..
