A Beautiful Disaster

Chapter 29

"Are you done?", Rae asked. "Almost", I said. I added a last bit of eyeliner and stepped out the bathroom. "Now I am", I said.

She raised her eyebrows and smiled. "You look gorgeous", she said. I smiled back at her. "Thank you." She walked up to me and pecked my lips. "Let's go", she said. I took a deep breath and followed her out.

"Are you okay?", she asked as she faced me. "Why do you keep asking me that?", I asked. "Because you have that look in your eyes." "I just, I'm afraid they're already on their way to get me", I said. "I promise, I won't let anything happen to you", she said as she held my hand. I nodded.

"Now let's go", she said smiling. She wrapped her arm around my waist as we walked out.

"Hey, Demi", I heard behind me. I turned around and noticed Lucia. I sighed. "Hi", I said as she got closer. A weak smile appeared on her face the second she looked at Rae.

"Hi, I'm Rae", she said. I rolled my eyes. "Can you stop being so polite for just once?", I whispered. She just ignored me. "I'm Lucia", she said. "Nice to meet you", Rae said. "We were just on our way to grab a bite. Would you like to join us?", she asked.

My eyes widened and I squeezed her hand. Lucia looked at me. "No, thank you. I should go. It was nice to meet you." Rae smiled. "I'll see you around", she added as she looked at me. She walked away.

"Well, that was awkward", Rae said. I hit her arm. "Ouch. What was that for?", she asked. "You know damn well what that was for", I said. She shrugged her shoulders. "I was just being nice", she said. "You're always so nice to people. Stop that for once." She looked at me confused.
"Why would I stop being nice? With the situation we're in, we need to stop making enemies. Being nice to others is the best thing we can do now", she said.

I sighed.

"I just don't want her to get too close. I've already spoken to her. And I told her I'm with you. I don't want her to even try to break us up, okay?"
She smiled.
"If you being a.. criminal, won't even break us up, then no one can. Don't worry about that", she said and pecked my lips.

"I'm starving. Can we go now?", she asked. I nodded. Before she could even walk away, I pulled her in for a hug. After a couple of seconds, her arms were wrapped around me.

"Are you okay?", she asked as her hands were rubbing my back. I nodded. "I just, I can't explain it right now", I said. She looked into my eyes and nodded. She planted a soft kiss on my forehead.

I intertwined our fingers as we walked to the cafe.

"Hi, table for 2 please", I said. He nodded and sat us on a table outside.

We both ordered a glass of wine and 2 plates of pasta.

"So, what was that about?", she asked. "What do you mean?" "Lucia. Why did you act so weird? Did she do things to you?", she asked.

I shook my head.

"It's not that. When I left, I told her I'd come back. But that I needed to see you. And later, you know, things happened.. and I just left her without saying anything", I said. "And she texted me a couple of times, saying she missed me and stuff. And when I didn't reply for a while she started threatening me, and you."

She looked at me confused.

"Threatening? What did she say?", she said.

"She said she would get rid of you if I was going to get back together with you. I didn't know what she meant but.. you know", I said.

"What did she say about you?"

"She mainly just got angry at me. Saying she's way better than you and that she'll come after me if I don't get back to her", I said. "She's crazy."

She stood up.

"I'll find that cunt."
