Alex's pov***

I felt my anger rising as Firestar continued his onslaught of insults to my other companions. Pushing myself to my feet, I walked towards the river.

That along with the constant image of my family I'm unable to purge from my head caused my temper to be unsteady lately. My father hadn't given me any guidance as to what my next move should be and a feeling of helplessness threatened to consume me. A pang in my stomach pulled me towards the river and without little thought, I followed it.

"Boss, where are you going?" Firestar sprinted to catch up. I yelled over my shoulder for everyone to stay put as I continued my journey to a place known. My eyes drift up to the sky as one of my fondest memories replayed in my head.

My baby sister was just beginning to stand up without the help of our mother. The man known as John watched from the kitchen window as me and my brothers played in the yard. Zae hovered in the air, his wings easily keeping him afloat. Shadow was parched in a tree, eyes trained on the enemy team which so happened to be composed of Jamal, Azari, and I. The odds were extremely stacked against us. Mal was barely able to use his abilities let alone defend the flag. My older brother would group him with me and Azari because they didn't want to deal with his constant whining that I must admit began to wear on me.

"I don't want to stand guard of the flag," Mal said casting his eyes to the ground pouting. Azari rested his hand on our younger brother's shoulder and squeezed it.

"You are the best person to protect the flag Mal. Zae and Shadow put you on our team because they thought you'd slow us down but they are wrong." Mal raised his head and smiled at my twin. Nodding his head and he took a step closer to the flag.

"Well I'm not weak, and I'll show em." Azari turned to face me and waited for instruction. Taking my cue, I explained to him how we would retrieve the flag from our older brothers. Zae having wings would be the turning factor in this little game. None of our attacks would be able to reach him. So with that, we would focus on Shadow who would be protecting their flag and hope that Mal could hold Zae off while we finished Shadow.

"99, 100, we're coming." Zae voices called signaling that the game had finally started.

Azari and I sprinted around the corner of the house. Zae was still hovering in the air by his home base. Once he caught sight of us he shot to where we made Mal standing guard.

Part one my plan was going to plan. Shadow still remained in the tree. His eyes darting between us not sure who to attack first. Azari looked over to me and I nodded letting him know it was okay to charge.

Taking the left and he the right we charged our brother. I shot a sound wave from my hand to force Shadow from the tree. He jumped from the tree just before the attack hit him. The flag caught wind on his belt loop and a smile grew on my face. So they had decided to keep the flag on them. That would be their first mistake.

"Azari, he has the flag tied to his belt, "My brother nodded and began to press Shadow who still was just watching us. Following suit I charged Shadow. Azari reached him first where he instantly went into combat. Coming up from behind I made my attempt at the flag, but was greeted with a kick to the chest.

"Not so fast." My brother's words rolled out so smoothly. He often didn't speak and when he did it was short and sweet. Quickly regaining my feet, I jumped into the frenzy. Shadow countered me and Azari's blows with ease. As soon as he started smiling because he thought he winning, I knew we had him. and I knew we had him.

"Azari now" My twin brother obeyed my order, and shot lightning from his fingertips that enclosed around Shadow. A dark ooze pooled at Shadow's feet as he pulled on his powers. We would have to act fast if we wanted to win this. Reaching my hand between the bars of the electric cell I grabbed for the flag. Shadow countered instantly. Grabbing my body he pulled me into the electric fence that kept him caged. Before my body could touch it Azari dropped the cage and allowed me to enter it before in circling the both of us. Shadow's eyes grew in surpise as he realized he played into our trap. Wrapping my arms around my older brother I hugged him with all that I had in me. Azari's hands reached into the cage and pulled the flag free from Shadow's belt.
