She was standing in front of him. He acted like it was nothing. She smiled mischievously and poked his arm. "Hey," she says, trying to get his attention.
He looked at her big brown eyes and asked, "What?" like he's irritated.
They were once best friends, but everything changed when he fell in love with her. She forgot their relationship because of that accident. It did leave him a scar. And what's worse is that, she forgot him. She forgot how she rejected him multiple times. She forgot everything. And he hated her for that. He wished he could forget all those painful memories, too. Because he's been suffering alone with those memories he couldn't seem to forget no matter how many times he tried. He regretted how he acted back then. The confession. The selfishness. If he didn't act like that at all in the past and maintained their friendship just like she had said, then everything would be okay. But he was too stubborn. He was too selfish. He clenched his fist, grinding his teeth. If it wasn't for his stupidity, the accident would never happen.
He looked at her again and realized that it's different now. They are back to being strangers. But still, she came back. She's physically here in front of him. And that's all that matters.
"If you were given another chance to love again, would you?" she asked, still smiling.
He was taken aback with the sudden question, but tried to look composed. "If I really am given another chance, I'll take it. And if it's possible, it would be the same girl. And I would save her. I would definitely save her even when she doesn't want that. I'll force my way into her life and I would be eager to break the walls she keep on building between us. I'll make her remember..." he trailed off.
Ah, his wounds are opening again.
She just looked at him, still waiting for him to continue.
He breathed deeply and smiled. "Actually, fate really gave me another chance. I'll be sure to make things right."
She smiled widely, showing her white teeth. Obviously, she's satisfied with his answer and she don't know why. "So, friends?" she asked, offering a handshake.
"Friends."
