99: Grandparents

Shawn's POV:

"Come on in guys." My mom cheers.

"Happy birthday, mum." I smile, kissing her cheek.

"Thank you, Shawn." She smiles, hugging
Y/N. We walk into the dining room where the table is overflowing with bowls and platters of steaming food.

"Karen, why'd you cook on your birthday?"
Y/N teases.

"Oh, Aailyah helped me with most of it. And you know I enjoy cooking. You guys come and sit down." She invites. I take Y/N's hand and she sets the bag containing my mom's gift on the table by the entrance. We walk hand in hand to our assigned seat on the other side of the table.

After stuffing ourselves full of all different home cooked foods, we gather in the living room for gifts. Aaliyah passes her gift to our mom, and she opens it, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Aaliyah, it's beautiful." Karen smiles. In her hand is a beautiful charm necklace that my mom had been wanting for quite a while.

"Okay, our turn." Y/N bites her lip. "Here you go, Karen." She hands my mom the blue bag. I look over at Y/N and take her hand in mine, weaving our fingers together.

My mom pulls some of the tissue paper out if the bag, to see the first layer of the gift. Her eyes widen and her hand flies up to her mouth. Y/N and I laugh a little, quietly.

"Are you serious?" She smiles ecstatically.

"There's more. Keep going," I suggest. She pulls out the next layer of the flimsy tissue paper.

"What is it?" Aaliyah asks, on the edge of her seat. My mom holds up the ultrasound picture, tears welling up in her eyes. Aailyah takes the bag from our mom and pulls out the other half of the gift, a positive pregnancy test.

"Happy birthday, Grandma!" I tease. My dad stands up chuckling and comes over to hug me.

"Congratulations guys!" Aailyah cheers, hugging Y/N. My mom's still sitting on the couch in shock, so I go over and sit next to her, placing a kiss on her temple.

"You guys are gonna be grandparents."
