118: The 'L' Word

Y/N's POV:

"Hi, I have a reservation for two at 6." I smile at the hostess.

"Will the other party be arriving soon?" She reciprocates my smile, gathering two menus and two silverware sets into her hands.

"Yes, he'll be meeting me." I reply.

"Okay, follow me."

She guides me to a romantically isolated corner of the restaurants, placing the menu in front of me as I sit down. Minutes later, the waiter arrives at my table with two glasses of water.

"Hello ma'am, how are you this evening?" He gently places the water onto the wooden table.

"I'm doing well, and you?"

"I'm doing very well, thank you. My name is Levi and I'll be your server. Can I get you anything to get you started?"

I glance over the drinks on the backside of the menu quickly. "I'll just have the riesling please."

"Okay, and are there any appetizers that I can get you?"

"No thank you." I reply, smoothing out my dress.

Half an hour passes and Shawn still hasn't shown up. He won't respond to any of my texts. The waiter is starting to think I've been stood up, and so have I.

Just before I'm about to ask for the check and leave, Shawn finally shows up.

"Hi, I am so sorry I'm late Y/N." He trips over his words as he falls into his chair.

"What happened?" I ask, upset. Even though he's here, he got here extremely late. 

"There was a horrible car accident, and it blocked up all lanes of traffic." He takes a gulp of the water in front of him.

"Why didn't you text me?"

"My phone is dead. I forgot my charger. I am so incredibly sorry Y/N, I would never miss a date with you on purpose. You know I love you, and I would never-" His words drop off and his cheeks become beet red. My eyes widen and my heart begins to pound.

He just said the 'L' word for the first time.

"Oh, wow." I clear my throat, heat creeping up my neck and into my cheeks.

"That wasn't how I planned on telling you this, but I love you, Y/N." He mutters quietly. I begin to smile widely.

"I love you too, Shawn."
